Speaking with Dutch publication AutoVisie, Volvo's marketing chief Alain Visser revealed that the next-generation V40 hatchback would be coming to the U.S. in the next few years. This is part of change at the company to stop developing region-specific models as they are too small for this. "For all the new models is that they are global players and each model has their own way relevant to a particular market," said Visser. The next-generation V40 will use a new modular platform that is being jointly worked on by Volvo and Geely. This new platform will also underpin a new compact crossover named XC40.
