August 10, 201510 yr Personally, I'm saying "something." I get that Elon Musk is rich, but this gotta get fixed soon, doesn't it? http://m.winnipegsun.com/2015/08/10/tesla-loses-more-than-us4000-on-every-car-sold

August 11, 201510 yr Author Alrighty then. I don't really have a beef with the car or the guy. I DO wonder about a cash burn when there doesn't appear to be anything else in the company to help ease the financial pain.
August 11, 201510 yr Wonder how much additional burn the CUV Tesla X will add to the equation? They really need to either get enough models to break even and start to be profitable in 18 months or else they will have to be consumed by some other auto giant.
August 11, 201510 yr Uhhhh, the Volt is one of what- 50 vehicles @ GM? Someone remind me how many Tesla models are on sale right now. - - - - - I would love to see Tesla be successful. It's a new(-ish) American brand. But from a business standpoint, they are absolutely 'in trouble'. They went thru 1.5 billion in cash reserves in 1 year. At that same rate they'll be broke in another 10 months. I can't imagine the bulk of Musk's time is spent on anything other than campaigning for investment.
August 11, 201510 yr I agree it is something.. But assuming the Model X will be more "profitable" and the fact that they have the Gigafactory partnered with Toyota, I believe, is a huge plus. All their batteries will already be stateside and in their own factory which has got to cut a huge cost from what they spend now on outsourcing and importing. I really want to see them succeed and half of that want is because they're another American brand and pushing technology. I still would never consider a full electric vehicle until the power stations expand ten fold. I wouldn't want to have to do the planning required to take a trip now. But that is just time as it's a slow and expensive process.
August 11, 201510 yr Author The infrastructure is still sketchy, no doubt about it. And that's another expense for Tesla, because Elon is largely footing the bill for that also.

I know, General Motors had trouble with math too.
