ALL-NEW 2016 CHEVROLET CRUZE PRICED FROM $17,495

Redesigned, re-engineered compact sedan is roomier and better connected

 

DETROIT – Chevrolet announced pricing for the all-new 2016 Cruze will start at $17,495 when it goes on sale next spring.

 

The Cruze's base price is almost $2,000 less than the 2016 Honda Civic LX ($19,475), while offering features such as the standard Chevrolet MyLink radio with a 7-inch-diagonal screen, and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility – subject to their terms, privacy statements and data plan rates as well as a compatible smartphone. OnStar 4G LTE with a Wi-Fi hotspot and a standard rear-vision camera are also available.

 

Larger, lighter and roomier than the 2015 model – including two inches more rear knee room – the all-new Cruze is offered in L, LS, LT and Premier models. An all-new, direct-injected 1.4L turbo engine generates a General Motors-estimated 153 horsepower. A six-speed manual transmission is standard.

 

Cruze LS with an automatic transmission starts at $19,995 with GM-estimated highway fuel economy of 40 mpg. Environmental Protection Agency estimates are not yet available.

 

Suggested retail pricing for all models:

 

L manual - $17,495

LS manual - $18,995

LS automatic - $19,995

LT automatic- $21,995

Premier automatic - $23,995.

 

Depending on the model, a range of active safety features is available, including Side Blind Zone Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Keep Assist and Forward Collision Alert.

Ya, pretty sure the shipping charges make up the difference.

Should be fun to see what kind of mileage the whisper diesel gets. GM essentially has the diesel

market to itself now that VW has been turfed. Even if the size of the market itself shrinks it could still be pretty lucrative if Canyonado diesel pricing is anything to go by.

Well I would not go as far as calling it a sports car but it for sure is good looking and will not be mistaken for anything but a Chevy based on it and the other Chevy models with similar styling traits.

The biggest thing is that it gets a 1.4T standard and that upgrade automatic will be an 8 speed.

 

That's a great base engine and great transmission upgrade. This generation should cement Cruze as a perennial top 3 for the foreseeable future.

 

Now, even Hyundai and Kia have to learn from this in terms of value. Chevy gives real vehicle solidity and dynamics that they still can't replicate even if they book-match features and their respective quality for each iteration. Ford needs to learn the weight loss. And Toyota needs to learn the comprehensive vehicle concept and execution. And Mazda as well as Honda Honda, well, I'd say these three are going to be gunning it top favorites from journalists for the compact class. And Subaru needs some emotional designers.

it really sucks the diesel isn't there out of the gate.  I had been looking at a current gen diesel for awhile, but this whisper diesel and new style make me want to wait.  

 

Current gen cruze leases are almost too good to pass up, i prob won't have the patience.......
