Canadian dollar. D-A-M-N !!!

Featured Replies

I just looked up currency rates. Our dollar buys $ 1.10 worth of Canadian dollars. That is unbelievably bad, relatively speaking. When you throw on their taxes, you are right about 1:1. That's horrible. There is no reason to go vacation in Canada right now. Obviously, it's a field day for them coming down into the States to vacation.

I remember that, living in Seattle from 1997 through 2000, the US:Canada ratio went to 1.00 : 1.52 once. Crossing the border to vacation or buy things was like stealing...or felt like it!

lucky's! this reminds when the stupid lunch lady wouldnt let me by a cookie witha canadian 2 dollar coin..then i tried to pass it off as a quarter later on..didnt work either.

You will want to make sure you fill your tank before you come up here. We are paying basically $1 a litre, which is about $4.50 a gallon. Even with your 10% discount it doesn't add up to much!

When I first turned 19 and went to the Casino and Windsor ........daily lol it was like $1.40. Then TAAAAAAANKED.

It's been that way since "you know who" took office.

We don't have an official language, so why have an official currency?

ha Just kidding. :)

I found out tho that other guy isnt a good choice either. If you work for the state and he gets elected say good by to your job unless your a suckass. or yesmen.

Canada to me is a very strong country though.

What do you mean by "work for the state?"

As in.. services for the people? ie. Police, Ambulance, Fire Stations?

State police do not want him. How he "saved" the Grand rapids or whatever is by extreme cutbacks. meaning losing alot of jobs in one area to supposely get a couple jobs in anothere area. He is just a politc living off of his dads money so he has power issues like cough BUSH. but we need radicalists not politicions.

Hitler was actually a very good leader until he went mental and killed people and started a war. he was like FDR He brought hope to the people. Before the invaison of poloand Germany had a great econmy.

But canada is very close and i like my fries covered with mozerlla cheeseand gravy. what is it called like putang or somthing.

Well, I don't know one person who's voting for Granholm, so..

I might just not select a box in that category.

Oh $h!!

I just realized I can now vote! When is the election?

It's Poutine (Poo-teen), and it tbetter tastes than it sounds. You can buy poutine at McDonalds In Certain markets in Canada. If you like Poutine and you ever get the chance, find a Atlantic Canadian Resturant and you'l enjoy the "Fries dressing and gravy" yum yum.. heart attack on a plate.

On the dollar topic, I am all for a par dollar.. I mean wouldn't it make sense for the dollar to be worth a dollar? I just feel bad for the manufacturing sector.

I remember there was some talk of unification of the North American dollar, which would help fight off the Euro. Personally, I don't want to be tied to the US any more than we already are.

SACRILEGE!

our dollar is worth a dollar.

Personally, I liked it back when when ouir dolar was worth 70 cents. It was worse for the average person, but it was a whole lot better for our economy, especially tourism and any business that exports to the States.

if i dont agree with it its obviously stupid.

a few summers ago we bought some furnature and got 1.65 canadian for our dollar when we bought it.....then i was just up there a couple weekends ago and I got 1.12....sad. When i got back from Canada that weekend I was talking to my dad about how bad the exchange rate had gotten and he told me that when he was in high school....late 70s........the candian dollar was worth more than the american dollar, like 85 cents to the dollar he said. At least its not that bad yet.

Gee, thanks! :AH-HA_wink:

Perhaps I should rephrase for clarity. I don't think Canada should be tied financially to ANY country. That way they can't influence your politics.

That's fine...not interested in Communism. :AH-HA_wink:

Seriously, though, I always used to take out-of-towners to Vancouver when I lived in Seattle. Their jaws unfailingly dropped and I knew all the panorama points to get that reaction. Then I would tell them: "Ok, keep in mind, this is Canada's Miami." That put it in perspective.
