Kia Motors America Announces Record May Sales

• Double Digit Gains for Kia’s Crossovers Includes All-Time High for the Sportage Compact CUV;


• Year-to-Date Sales Up 3.5 Percent

IRVINE, Calif., June 1, 2016 – Kia Motors America (KMA) today announced best-ever May sales of 62,926 units. The brand’s fourth monthly sales record within the first five months of the year was highlighted by double digit increases for the Sportage and Sorento CUVs, including the highest single month total for the Sportage in company history.

 

“Our popular ‘Summer’s On Us’ sales event generated significant showroom traffic, and we reached new heights in May despite two fewer selling days this year and an overall slowing of sales seen throughout the industry,” said Michael Sprague, chief operating officer and EVP, KMA. “With the all-new Sportage attracting more customers than ever before, and the return of our music-loving hamsters in a new campaign for the Soul, we are confident customers will continue to discover all that the ‘New Kia’ has to offer.”
