‘Freak Accident’ That Killed Anton Yelchin May Be Due to Recently Recalled Jeep

It's not just the shifter from FCA. Every single one of those stupid shifters that return back to centre are really unintuitive, you find them in BMW's, Benz's, and now even some GM models. I'd say even a knob shifter like RAM, 200, Fusion and Jaguars is probably a better solution to a shifter that does not take up a lot of space.

Chekov, not Scotty

DOH, Appreciate the correction your right, but he did run the engine room for a bit! :P

True, he did when Scotty temporarily resigned :)  es, i am a major Trek nerd and wholeheartedly looking forward to the new movies and the new series :D

Totally agree, I wonder who they will get as the new Chekov? They found such a great set of actors that represented the original cast so well. Such a sad useless accident.

Agreed.  I don't know.  They may cut the character out is some way.  He was awesome in Odd Thomas too.  Way talented actor and horribly sad,

Sad news. Another life wasted because of a car manufacturer's error.

Incorrect, it is user error, not mechanical error.  The shifter works as it should.  If they don' get it in park it warns them in 4 ways.  1.  it shows the gear it is in on the shifter.  2.  It shows the gear i is in on the instrument cluster..  3.  there is an audible warning chime if the door is opened while not in park.  4.  it actually says vehicle not in park in the instrument cluster.  A tragedy?  yes.  Sad?  yes  Mechanical issue?  No

Totally agree, these new shifters require people to pay attention to what they are doing and yet still give tons of warnings. So clearly some just do not pay attention.

Over all sad loss of life.
