Unusual Ninety-Eight

Featured Replies

- White-walls are about 1/8" wider than OEM

- Ninety-Eight grill, badges, rear quarter extensions/panels, side marker lamps and wheel covers retrofitted on a Delta 88?

Yup, that looks like a B-body Delta 88 with parts swapped.  There's a REAL C-body Ninety-Eight, green and tan in the background.

@KevinW got it... At least what I was aiming for. It was an Eighty-Eight coupe that was converted to a faux Ninety-Eight.  The owner went to such lengths as to even add marker lights and options that were 98 only.  The car has 218k miles on it.

Those rear side markers weren't an easy addition.  I added a power driver's seat and the factory gauges to my '83 Delta 88 Royal Brougham sedan, but these were simple bolt-ons.  Next on the list is a LH side mirror with thermometer (from a Ninety-Eight).

How did that guy do that?  I guess you could do that with the  Eighty Eight because GM did it twice.

They did it in 1984-1985 with the Delta 88 Royale Brougham LS and the 1997-1998 Regency.  Both of those models had a lot of Ninety Eight parts on them done at the factory. That has been my saving grace when I restored things on my Ninety Eight. I got new Eighty Eight parts that the Ninety Eight and Eighty Eight and Regency shared.  Thank you for sharing.
