CEO and founder Wang Chao believes the China market can easily support 200,000 to 300,000 EV pickups and believes his Pickman EV truck is the answer. Since the founding of his company and production at the end of last year, he has built 5000 of his pickman EV trucks and says he has 100,000 more on order. The Pickman EV truck gets 120 Kilometers / 75 miles on a single charge and sells for 23,800 yuan or about $3,500.

Investment to date in Kaiyun Motor is about $300 million and he is working on a second round of about $200 million that should allow him to ramp production and turn a profit.

How this all plays out with other Chinease companies that are invested with a billion or more to build full size EV auto's is yet to be seen. Wang believes there is not only room for his compact truck, but also for him to grow it into a full size line as well.
