Hyundai has a major revamp of its crossover lineup on the horizon. Speaking with Automotive News, Hyundai Motor America CEO Dave Zuchowski outlined plans to meet the current demand of crossovers for the U.S.

Beginning with their current crossover lineup, the Santa Fe and Santa Fe Sport will grow in size and separate from one another. The Santa Fe will grow into an eight-seat crossover, and the Sport will get a name change along with a new design to make it more rugged. The Tuscon will grow as well but will not get a major change in its mission.

Hyundai will also be introducing a new B-segment crossover in 2018 to compete with the likes of the Honda HR-V, Jeep Renegade, and Mazda CX-3. Further down the road, a subcompact crossover will be introduced.

To be expected, the North American market is all about the CUV/SUV right now.

Good thing China is not used to regulations, crash testing, quality, etc. Otherwise they would try to find a way to flood America with their auto's cheaply.

Most Chinese auto's are garbage and do not pass regulations in North America or Europe. One reason they are still stuck in their own country.

Actually they are quite content to take us over slowly...and we are quite willing to accommodate them,. given our own lack of national pride and our insatiable desire for the Chinese to service our debt....how much is our trade deficit with China again....?

I wonder if any of them will be EV in the short to medium term...

 

Their SUV/CUVs seem to pop up all over here.....and the new style is growing on me. The interior layouts are nice and simple....

Hyundai has said they are doing one, but it is unknown if it will be any of the vehicles talked about in the story or not.

Why don't they make the Elantra a crossover, the Sonata a crossover, and while they're at it, why not make Genesis a crossover-only brand?
