I was looking into getting a very good fuel economy car whats a really good car out there that won't be chuggin the gas but won't be holding the power out that I want. My riviera is unbareable with these high gas prices.

New: Cobalt 5-speed

Used: Focus 5-speed

I'm gonna get hammered for this... I just know it...

Look for a Mazda3. It's fun to drive(especially with 5 speed manual), has plenty of get-go and has a great interior.

I love General Motors, but to be honest, having driven Mazda3's, they are the best value for the cash.

I agree...I've heard the Mazda 3's are the best out there for your money...go check one of those out.

Cobalt.

Excellent compromise between power/efficiency

Mazda3 would be a good choice but more expensive and the powertrains aren't the best.

Riviera, you say?! You could always put some gas money in your pocket and sell it to me!

Pics?

Cobalt or Mazda 3.

Not sure about the US though, but Mazda 3s are among the pricier compacts up here. My friend got his 3 Sport GT almost near the price of well equipped G6 V6.

the ecotec will get better real world mileage than the Ford products although either choice is good. The Cobalt will out-mpg the Aveo even. I do give Toyo and Honda for having fuel efficent cars but aside form that they would make me barf.
