As you probably gleaned from the thread title and placement, the featured Lienert/Detroit News review this week is of the 2007 Cadillac Escalade. In case you're wondering, yes, the first words out of their mouths are "gas-guzzling SUV". To read the words that follow:

that transmission... that 6L80 is it? is that a derivitive at all off of the allyson?

and its the same as the corvette correct?

New GM vehicles have gotten to a point where the complaints people have, valid or not, make the reviewers sound like spoiled children.

yea, they nit and pick things...

like if they want to complain about 13-19 mpg on a LUXUARY vehicle...

perhaps they should look to the 13-17 Nissan Armada... and complain about that?

most sedans or sports cars with 403 hp dont get 19mpg...

my friend has a 7 series BMW... and says he gets around 10 combined....

another friend has an SL55... gets 14 mpg, 90% highway...

need i continue?

My car gets an average of about 16...With the way I drive I'm suprised I don't get less...then again my buddy says he has driven his mom's 540ia around and he gets high 20's on average...even 30 or so...

They do have valid points about the plood (it should be real if it isn't) and the third row build quality if it is a problem. I have yet to sit in one so I do not know. The lack of a fuel saving system is slightly disappointing but my reasoning is not about saving gas as much as it is appearing to be advanced...standard of the world-like.

The point about the fuel economy is a waste of electrons. It's the stupidest discussion point to make in this category of vehicle. People that spent this kind of money on cars don't care and if they did, they wouldn't buy one.
