All is good in the world again!

The CLS450 will come with the 3.0-liter turbocharged, supercharged, and hybridized M256 inline-six that generates 367 hp and 369 lb-ft, utters a great throaty snarl, and reaches 62 mph in 5.0 seconds. Given those output numbers, it seems the CLS’ engine is slightly detuned from the version that appears in the S-Class. A forthcoming AMG version will have 430 hp and shave 0.2 second off the 0–62 time.

I am most interested in seeing what they do with the new inline six engine because it will bring along an update to the inline 4 also and 48 volt mild hybrid systems too.   This is short term future to get power and mpg before the electrics take over.

I don't think they even need the CLS with the E-class coupe now having a spacious back seat.  I think the E-class sedan and coupe cover the market but it is nice that they provide the customers choice.

So MB is going to bump HP in the AMG version by 63 and only cut 0.2 sec off 0-60?? What a way to completely devalue the AMG package.

RE the above pic; there utterly no reason whatsoever to camo the car- the shape is the same it's been for years & it'll wear the same nose as 32 other MBs.

Ugly, uninspiring and will end up being overpriced as always. :puke:

Out of respect for our Canadian cousin i will not down vote him as I should for devaluing a great song with a miserable car.

Ohhh I can think of real reasons to keep it under a blanket...just not the ones that Benz would like.

Ha!

I found your post hilarious!

It is truly a great song!

I do love the CLS though!  Prolly the only Benz I like in 2017. The S Class sedan is awesome...but Im always waiting for something better to come along. But then again...there isnt any uber luxury sedan out there by anybody that I like...the S Class beats them all...but if I had the money to buy or lease one...I wouldnt...Id get the CLS instead. And restomod a 1950s or 1960s or even an early 1970s Caddy!

The original CLS is still the prettiest and set a stage for almost every mid-size sedan on the market with the coupe-sedan body style. MB literally built a new class with this car. I know even know what that class really is as it's in the middle of an E and S Class(A6 and A8, 5 Series and 7 Series). I honestly only care how this car looks because i know it'll be as badass as the E Class performance variants.

The AMG version will be fast, even though it is only a 43 level.  The GLC43 does 0-60 in 4.3 seconds as an SUV, the E43 does it in 4.2 and this car will have more power than those two.

There is supposedly to be no V8 on the next CLS.

Yep, half the sedans on the market took that CLS shape.

• The CLS has nice lines, but it was certain neither anything new nor innovative. GP was doing the fastback, fat c-pillar look a year earlier- CLS is the same proportion & profile with a jacked-up beltline.

• Article clearly states the 367 HP CLS will do 0-60 in 5.0 sec, and the 430 HP AMG version will do it in 4.8 secs.

The article is speculating 0-60 times on a car that hasn't been tested yet.  The E43 does it in 4.2 without the e-turbo and 35 less hp.  The S450 is 5.1 seconds  4.9 or 5.0 makes sense for a CLS carrying less weight.

I think the interesting bit is the 300 hp, 295 lb-ft inline 4, that would be a big boost to the C300, GLC300, E300.

You mean like the rumored MB F-1-tech sports hybrid that hasn't been tested yet, yet someone is quoting all sorts of performance and power figures??
