In 40 years of tracking, the biggest source of greenhouse gas pollution is no longer power plants. Transportation has this distinction covering boats, planes, trains and automobiles.

According to the latest government data, the U.S. has made a massive switch from Coal powered electricity, the dirtiest form of power generation to natural gas, wind and solar reducing since 2000 this sector leading our greenhouse gas production to making it equal to the transportation sector in 2016 and finally having the transportation sector surpass it in 2017.

Health being one of the biggest benefits of this switch as the big change has immediate improvements to health for those that are burdened with heart disease, asthma and cancer.

With this gain, it seems the US is poised to have what wind, solar and natural gas did to the power generation sector with EV or electrical vehicle changes doing to the transport sector. Already we have Alaska Airlines using Biofuel to power their jets, thus giving a nice french fry aroma to the plane's exhaust.

The Transport Topics story says that as electrification of the U.S. auto fleet begins, we could see the two biggest greenhouse gas pollution sectors converge as EV auto's pull their power from the grid. This is expected to have huge gains in Europe as they roll out their XFC or Extreme Fast Charging network which is already being challenged by the auto industry that has banded together to bring out an XFC version 2. Seems a 350 kW charging network will not deliver the expected 350 mile charge in 15 minutes or less. As such many of the auto industry companies have decided a 400 to 450 kW charging system would make better sense.
