What exactly are the differences between a 2017-18 XT5 and a 2014-16 SRX?  Given current prices on the latest model SRXes, I am not sure is I would like to purchase the lastest and supposedly greatest XT5. Any advice is welcome.

Interior room is a big difference, if your over 6' tall, then go XT5 as the SRX is just tight in all ways. If your under 6' then it comes down to style of bullet train like (srx) or breadbox (xt5) IMHO from a style standpoint and interior room.

Powertrain, SRX is fine with the V6, Turbo 4 was a blast to drive but does drink Gas on the SRX.

XT5 is a decent performer for the V6 they put in it, but you have no other choices. I do like the updated CUE in the XT5, but then I also never had a problem even though others have said they had slow response from CUE in the SRX.

Interior room is the biggest thing, as @Dfelt said.  Personally, I think the SRX handles better than the XT5 does.  Engines will be pretty close, but the XT5 is likely slightly faster due to being an 8-speed rather than a 6-speed.  XT5 will get better fuel economy because of the cylinder deactivation.

The SRX I don't think ever got Android Auto / Apple Carplay, but if it did, it would be in the final 2 years.

That'd be a deal breaker at this point... 

I think the styling of the SRX is more edgy though, and honestly, some might argue if it had fancy LED lights in front too, laypersons when it comes to cars might think the late model SRXs is the same age as the XT5.

I tend to think of the SRX as being an unheard of American alternative to all the bizarre crossover coupes shenanigans from the import brands with its headroom limited second row... It actually has the requisite declining roof line and shallow angle rear glass, though Cadillac probably would never ever tout that styling feature.

I was thinking about an offlease SRX recently and did some checking, no Android auto unfortunately.

 

Though Android Auto was released in '15, many models didn't get it until '17-18.   UConnect 8.4 got it for 2017, but only in the 300, Charger and Challenger..the GC and others didn't get it until '18, same with Apple Play.  Not sure about GM models.

GM models depended on when they got refreshed.  Android Auto and Apple CarPlay require more powerful in-car processors.  I know that in the Cadillac they had to make a physically larger space to put the processing computer.

Sounds like the SRX would not have Android Auto or Apple CarPlay.  So I guess either one is an XT5 exclusive.
