There has been a small number of people wanting Volkswagen to bring the Amarok over to the U.S. There are numerous issues to this, the big one being the 25 percent Chicken Tax on trucks, But some recent news has brought hope to this small group.

Motor Authority reports that Volkswagen filed a trademark application for Amarok last November. This could mean one of two things; either Volkswagen is planning on introducing the Amarok to the U.S., or the German automaker is covering all bases. As Motor Authority notes, Volkswagen has trademarked the name before.

Aside from the Chicken Tax problem, the Amarok would run into the problem that other midsize trucks are facing at the moment, a slowdown in sales. Despite the massive rise in full-size truck sales, midsize trucks aren't seeing the same trend. A lot of this comes down to truck manufacturers offering generous incentives for their full-size trucks, bringing the price down to the same level as midsize trucks and causing buyers to go with the larger ones.

They should just build it here so they can sell it here.  They could build something else in Germany and ship it here if they need factory space here.  Also, Chicken tax is the dumbest thing ever.

Would love to have one in a regular cab TDi 4X4 with stick.  Does that put me in a small group of the small group?  :/

I have recently heard from VW reps that they are exploring loopholes that would allow them to sell Amaroks in the US through a commercial avenue. Along with them, they are looking at some of their van offerings from other markets. They see a sales opportunity here that is clearly worth at least pursuing further.

While I'm waiting, please send me a 2018 two-row Tiguan S 4-motion in dark green with oak leatherette.  Thanks.  *looks out window*

You have to get an SE to get Golden Oak leatherette.

Every Mossy Green Tiguan we have had in sold almost immediately. It's odd. But also hope inspiring that not everyone wants silver or black.

Yes darn it I forgot the E.  It's a beauteous colour.

If I replace my 16 GTI with another when my lease ends, it will definitely be in this Great Falls Green color-

Those greens are great.  I like seeing greens and browns instead of the usual predictable colors.

Frisky, what model year is that green GTi?

2018. They just hit dealer lots last week.

And the Bottle Green on the Beetle you posted is gorgeous! It's one of the best greens I've ever seen from any MFR. Such a great color.

Those are both fantastic greens.
