OK, this is the current condition of these 2 rides. The finned wonder is my '59 Invicta, the other is my brother's '71 GTO 4-spd.
I am head of him in the process: all metal work is completed and in epoxy primer, and the shell is back on the refurbished frame. Front & RR suspension is done, as is my rear axle. I also have a bunch of the new parts, and a bunch of cosmetically restored parts. My brother may or may not be done with metal repair- I think the floors still need work. Also, his frame is untouched yet, but there is a TON more repro parts available for the '71. He also has 2 lifts at his house

We have an unofficial bet on which gets their car done first. Both of us work 5 or 6 days/wk most weeks, and haven't really worked on these projects in years. There's no defined 'prize' at stake. Anyone want to start a (years long) pool on the winner?

Sorry to commit an act of treason in our friendship but I am betting on your brother.

OK, any reasoning behind your choice? The relative late-model A-Body ease of build?

That absolutely.  He is playing the game with the difficulty level set at 3, you are playing the game with the difficulty level set at nine. No comparison whatsoever.

Except for some minor sub-systems, I've already done the hard engineering tho. Rear axle, rear suspension, frame modifications, fitment of later model engine/trans. Left to fabricate is exhaust, brake & fuel lines, not a problem. I think I'm closer to 'Level 5' than 9. ;)

The '71 also has more options, such as A/C- if he wants to get that back online, that's a whole nuther sub-task.

We'll based on thinking this over, I am having to go with a tie if everything being equal, money to pay for the project along with time to focus on the project.

Based on what I see, I think balthazar is ahead so far. Yes his brothers is easier for numerous reasons but balthazar has stated what is done already and I think has a bit more drive to get this completed based on the two photos.

Its still an epic project with tons of potential pitfalls.  We can compromise on eight...but you have a tougher road ahead of you I think.
