March 24, 20187 yr Whilst perusing the June issue of Collectible Automobile tonight, I came across photos of a 72 Buick Skylark Custom with wheels I don't think I've ever seen. Color keyed, w 5 slots. Anyone familiar w these? Good article on 68-72 Buick midsizers, also an article on a 59 Chevy 4x4 pickup.
March 24, 20187 yr A-Body stuff is often under my radar but no; can't say that I've noticed these before. Looks like a close cousin of the Olds Super Stock 5-hole rim. EDIT : They appear in 1 photo in the '72 full-line brochure, but it's hard to tell for sure. This one. [not color-keyed here, were these instead gold or black-finished?] Seems like 99% of Buick A-Bodies in '69-73 were on Road Wheels for the upgrade over hubcaps. Edited March 24, 20187 yr by balthazar

I totally remember those as My grandma had one in California with those color matched rims. Loved that car.
March 24, 20187 yr Balthy, doing his detective thing. Yes it seems like a riff on the Chevy/Olds Rally/Super Stock steel sport wheel. Pontiac had their Rally II steel sport wheel, which, to me, is the most iconic of its type. All with accoutrements. I've never seen the Buick version, but it is clearly different from her siblings. The red convertible in Balthy's link appears to have a charcoal metallic finish. Maybe the color keyed version was some sort of "Spring Special Edition" or a regional package on the Skylark? March 24, 20187 yr Author The same article also had a pic of the Skylark SunCoupe version from '72 with the same wheels, but painted gray or black on red car w/ black vinyl top. Edited March 24, 20187 yr by Cubical-aka-Moltar
