May 30, 200619 yr Author A pic of my "injury" sorry its huge. I can home during a delivery and snapped it. Edit: should be a smaller pic. Another edit: Thats my left elbow, the pic lost a lot of clarity when imageshack resized it. Edited May 30, 200619 yr by Satty
May 30, 200619 yr Author Lot surfing update: I test drove a 2001 Grand Prix GT, and surprisingly I liked it a lot. Its red over black, 3800, 80,000 miles and change. Its priced a little higher than it should be but the owners of the dealership seemed like good people and I can probably work with them. The interior, well, what can I say, its black so it ages well, you really cant tell the cars age. Plus there are a lot of buttons and vents so when Satty Jr. grows up and he'll have a spaceship to play in. I also looked at a few other places including checking out an Aveo, and, um, what can I say but blah?
May 31, 200619 yr Wow. Im absolutely amazed. You were so lucky the driver's side roof didn't cave in like that as well. and with all the windows blown out like that, I'm also surprised you didn't suffer more cuts with all those glass shards flying around.
June 1, 200619 yr If you're looking at Fusion/Milan, why not look at the Mazda 6? They're old enough now that you might find some good used ones. Let me second that. I live in MO, too, and got my 03 (built in Nov '03) Mazda6 in March '05 for $14K. V6, stick, 20K miles on the odo. A year and a ½, and 30,000 miles later, it's been a great car - a hell of a lot more fun than a Taurus, fo rills. -RBB
June 1, 200619 yr Author Update: State Farm sent an adjuster out, who declared it a total loss. Now they have to send a second adjuster out to make sure the first one was right. I've pretty much decided that I want to pay down school-related debt so I'm not going to go the new-car route. I'm going to try to keep whatever I get under ten grand, and will probably wait until its closer to baby time to buy something.
June 2, 200619 yr Three words: Celebrity Eurosport wagon. No no no.... 1987 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera Wagon with fake wood paneling & a bumper mounted propeller tow-hitch cover. I think a 01 Grand Prix GT would be a great choice.
June 2, 200619 yr Sorry to hear about the accident Satty, glad your okay. Hopefully everything goes well for you in the next few months!
June 2, 200619 yr Author Three words: Celebrity Eurosport wagon. That would just scream PIMP, and I dont need a car that attracts all the skanky hos, I have as many of those as I need.
June 3, 200619 yr Author Went lot hopping again. '01 Lesabre, 79,000 miles for just under $9k. '05 Malibu Maxx for a shade under $13k. A bunch of Lincoln LS V8s for around $12k and an '02 Volvo S40 for just under $13k.
June 3, 200619 yr You've found it! You too can be Maxxin' and relaxin'! And what a great price, too. It's fairly new, it's practical, and it's funky, just like you.
June 3, 200619 yr Not a bad buy for the 'Bu at all. If it's still there when you're ready to buy, you'll probably get it for even less. LSs are nice looking cars (the best since the Mark VIII) , but Im not too sure of their reliability.
June 6, 200619 yr Author Insurance company called and said they'll pay off about $9600, my gap protection will pay off the other $1900 I owe. They carted my car off today, I actually saw it on a trailer being driven off, brought a tear to my eye. For now I'm driving the Accord, which still looks like $h! (althouth now it has turn signals) but is a total blast to drive, honestly.
June 6, 200619 yr Insurance company called and said they'll pay off about $9600, my gap protection will pay off the other $1900 I owe. Well, that's good news! They carted my car off today, I actually saw it on a trailer being driven off, brought a tear to my eye. Yikes. Oddly, when my '00 mc LS was totaled in 2003, I wasn't able to be there when it was towed away, but the body shop snapped some photos of it as they loaded it and took off ... rather weird. I still have those pics somewhere.
