According to Wards Auto, GM is planning to expand production in their joint plant in Uzbekistan to help drive an increase in sales of Chevrolet and Ravon brands across Middle East and Africa.

New Tracker will be produced there with a 1.8L 4 cylinder producing 140HP. GM says these auto's will be produced using GM SKD Kits.

Anyone ever hear of a GM SKD Kit?

SKD...something Knock Down--where they ship a unassembled automotive product to a remote site for assembly? 

Uzbekistan...Borat would approve (though I think he was supposed to be from Khazakhstan).

These are Semi Knock-down kits. So an auto that is in some sort of partial assembly imported as parts, final assembly and then exported to other markets at lower costs to importing or exporting a complete product. Interesting ?

Pretty common approach, automakers have done this for decades.   I remember reading there were Chevy Camaros assembled in the Phillippenes in the 60s using KDKs.
