Separately, NHTSA said General Motors Corp. is recalling 30,793 Chevrolet Corvette cars from the 2005-2006 model years as the adhesive between the roof panel and the frame may separate and the roofs could fly off.

"If there is a complete separation, the roof panel may detach from the vehicle and it could strike another vehicle and cause injury and property damage," NHTSA said.

funny because the title of the article is "VW recalls 362,000 cars, GM recalls some Corvettes"

its like, WOO VW RECALLED SOME CARS... on a side not... blah blah, chevrolet can walk on water, blah

Two words: Liquid Nails. :AH-HA_wink:

DAmn too bad.. hope the fix is quick & easy.

so they got sh*tty glue. it happens. could be a lot worse. like windshield wipers that burst into flames for no reason or transmissions that melt.

yea... be like a ford, that your dash just starts to catch on fire...

Yep, just brush it aside.

Yeah, forget the fact that the assembly of all these highly touted, high quality vehicles is overseen by some obtuse, kool-aid chuggin' managers throughout the corporation. Try to reason with 'em to secure a long term fix, and you WILL be ostracized in short order. Perhaps I've been too strident in protesting in the past, but Shooting Themselves In The Foot as per the 'Vette snafu just makes me nauseous. :duh:

I wonder if it was the same glue that is causing the Alero dashes/interiors to separate?

I can't wait to hear FOG's rant on the bias of the media! :P

beats me, sound like they were trying to save a buck in the wrong place.

i figure it was bad glue and not a serious design flaw. something inherently dangerous that was engineered improperly.

im not trying to diminish the seriousness of the recall, after all its not the owners of the cars wholl have the biggest problems its you and me driving behind them on the interstate wholl be more pissed off if something were to happen.

my point is you could probably fix it yourself. there are airplane designs that dont use bolts or rivets but rather held together by glues and adhesives. thtas all they need--some good sh*t to hold their car together.
