Hyundai Motor Presents First Look at New Truck with a Fuel Cell Powertrain

In 2019 Hyundai will be launching their new Fuel Cell Electric Truck line in Europe. For now, the truck will officially debut at the IAA Commercial Vehicles Show that takes place September 20th to 27th in Hanover, Germany.

The truck continues Hyundai drive to lead the market in clean transportation options. They have offered a clean simple aerodynamic truck that is expected to match the real truck that will be shown at the show.

The tech is based on the experience gained from the ix35 fuel cell auto and the recent NEXO Fuel cell concept. Hyundai has had numerous announcements this year as they have partnered with Audi on Fuel Cell technology research to allow them both to reduce costs as they enter the FCEV supply chain and product sales.

Hyundai has come together with 53 energy companies, transport and industry part companies to host the Global Hydrogen Leaders Forum at Global Climate Action Summit to show the benefits of Hydrogen electric auto's. The goal by the Hydrogen council is to get agreement and consent to move forward so that by 2030 1.5 million autonomous taxis, 700,000 autonomous shuttles, 8,000 VTOLs (vertical take-off and landing taxis), 3.6 million delivery trucks as well as providing up to 1 TWh of backup power for data centers.

Hyundai is making a giant push forward that Hydrogen will place a niche but very important part in the auto revolution.
