This car is widely considered to have the MOST brightwork

of any vehicle ever made. It is both beautiful and gawdy

at the same time and the model that replaced it was very

clean and unique, thus it got flack for being too plain and

yet also got much praise for it's instantly classic styling.

1958 & 1959 Buick is right.

Look at these cars, talk about a redesign.

Those drawer-pulls that make up the grille are the best

styling element of the 1958 Buick IMHO.

The '59 isn't bad for chrome. Restrained even. The '58 was mad crazy with its Fashion-Aire Dynastar Grille, made up of 160 individual four-side facet. The fifteen chrome slashes on each rear fender served absolutely no purpose nor meant a damn thing. It was just ridiculous and magnificent American gaudiness unmatched by anyone anywhere ever since.

I like both but I get absolutely weak-kneed at the sight of a

1959 hardtop Buick. Ask Balthazar when we took a look at

that rusted post-flood rot-box down on a farm in N.J. I was

still considering trading my 68 for it straight up... if a car

really speaks to me I gert stupid and often times will make

an impulse buy.

I mean seriously a 1959 Buick LeSabre Flattop with the

3-on-the-tree trans.? That's got to be more rare than a

1970 LS6-454 powered Chevelle ragtop with a bench

seat and white interior up in Alaska.

May God forgive those idiots for letting it rot to death.

WOW!! That's a sweet ride. I absolutely love the sound of Rocket V8s.

Don't tell anybody but Olds has always been my favorite GM division. Wish I still had my '72 Regency (or any other big Olds from the 1950s-1970s, for that matter).

P.S. I love the story about the Marvell Mystery Oil "valve job"!
