Doug DeMuro and Tyler Hoover( Hoovie) Talk Car Brands They’d Want to Revive

Featured Replies

I think rather than waste money on trying to bring a specific brand back from the dead, move forward with a new technology and build a 21st century ultimate luxury line or performance line and incorporate things that were desired back then and is still desired today but in a 21st century take.

Could possibly be done by Tesla or Rivian once they get profitable.

Duesenberg wasn't simply the greatest American car, it was the greatest car, period.

It is fun to speculate what a modern Duesenberg could be like. I like the idea of a Pontiac revival.

While fun to speculate, these brands all died for a reason.  It would cost a fortune to revive a brand, that money is better spent on pumping money into an existing brand, for any automaker.

Duesenberg is the one interesting one because they were over the top expensive, and their horsepower and performance numbers are still decent today, which is insane for an 90 year old car. For them to come back now as a 1,000 hp, super luxury car would be awesome, but that is a lot of money to launch a brand that is going to appeal to very few people.  And we already have that with Bugatti basically.

Exactly, look at all the billions wasted on Alfa, Dead reborn and still pretty much dead while the US brands that financed that BS pet project continue to scrape along.

There are billions wasted on walking dead brands too.  Really there are too many car brands now, they don’t need to bring more back.

I could see GMC putting out a Wrangler competitor called GMC Hummer or GMC Humvee or something if they still have the trademarks.  Then they aren’t launching a brand just a new model.

Like how Daimler folded the failed maybach brand back into mercedes, not even as a model but merely a trim.

IF GM focuses more on trucks/SUVs/CUVs, a 'Hummer' rebirth in the Wrangler segment would do well, I think.
