July 24, 200718 yr I've never figured out how to get past my firewall... but I can get on regular IRC servers just fine. I think a normal IRC room would be better. People could just idle there all the time. It can be a hassle, but it's worth it in my opinion.
June 24, 200817 yr It doesnt want to work for me... you need to update to the latest Java Version just go to Java.com and there you can check if you have the latest version if you dont you can download it for free.
November 16, 200817 yr Really weird. Sometimes that happens to me, and I just wait a while, then it works. =/
November 17, 200817 yr I keep getting this message: unable to connect : java.netSocketException : Network is unreachable : connect
March 6, 200917 yr If it would be feasable, could we have a chat room that could be logged into from an external client? I never seem to have any luck with in-browser chat rooms. I'd be willing to buy a subscription for that.
March 6, 200917 yr I found our chat feature, but despite the fact that we used to have it, it's disabled currently, and I need Z to help out with that. But yeah, the built in chat wasn't that great, so maybe an external on would be something to look into.

March 19, 200917 yr In the interim... http://gabbly.com/http://cheersandgears.com This could be a stopgap. That looks pretty nifty, actually. The advertising isn't too great, but this could work in the interim.
August 24, 200916 yr I think I might make an IRC channel on FreeNode. Anyone up for this? Using an IRC network would be cool, but does FreeNode have a Java applet for newbie users so they can get in easy? Or will people need to get use a client like mIRC or Mibbit?
August 26, 200916 yr I've never had any luck at all with Java IRC clients, so I don't know if one would work to access Freenode. But I could provide instructions for getting on using a traditional client.

But I could provide instructions for getting on using a traditional client. I think C&G Chat was an IRC client that used Java, and we all know how well that worked. I use mIRC myself for gaming servers, but Chatzilla for FireFox users is nice and simple, so perhaps that'd be one for people who want to chat, but don't want too much hassle.
November 2, 200916 yr Chat room is up and running, come one, come all! Or you could tell people how to get to it On the top menu bar next to Calendar, just click "Live Chat"
