July 10, 20214 yr Author June 21 - seen in the underground parking at the hotel. I've come to like these small Hyundais to putt around in. This Accent is old but in great condition. I just looked it up. It's the third gen, so between 2005 and 2010, more or less. Also, it's a 2-door hatchback. Manual everything indeed.
July 10, 20214 yr A lot of car spotting today. There is a little local car show here every second Saturday a month (during the warm months). Some nice rides out there but I could only get a few pics because I was working at a shop on that very street today. Some more... July 11, 20214 yr That Grand National doesnt look like a GNX. I think its just a regular GN despite the front vanity license plate stating GNX. I would take that 1971 (Im assuming its a '71) orange with tan vinyl top Buick GS. In 2nd place would be that orange 2nd gen F-Body. I want to say its a Camaro. I wouldnt mind that '55 Chevy either.

I also noticed that on the side fenders, the turbo Grand National emblem is present and there is no GNX logo on the front grill. I came to a correct conclusion. Unless of course its a clone Grand National. (I dont think so. I only care if the person that restored a classic, cloned it but passes it off as a legit trim and wants to sell it top dollar passing it off as a legit top dog model. If I had the cash flow to do such projects, as you guys know, I want a '70 442 or '73 T/A SD455. If I couldnt get my hands on an original, Id have to build one from whatever Cutlass or Firebird/Camaro I could get my hands on. And yeah...Id clone it as a '70 442 W-30 or '73 T/A SD455. There are plenty of aftermarket sources that would allow me to do that. Fenders. Front ends. Badging. And if the restoration job would be done by a professional (not by me), to the naked eye, it would fool even the very best. Documentation would be the ONLY thing that would reveal the truth about my cloned muscle car.

While the potent powertrain does play a factor, that BUICK body style lends itself quite beautifully and quite menacingly in black. MORE so than its other corporate siblings. The yellow was a Trans Am, if I recall correctly. I know it was a Pontiac.
July 13, 20214 yr Author Back to June ... the 22nd, to be exact: Saw this new charger at the Palm Springs (CA) Library parking lot. What a great color. Maybe even better than basic white, which I like for the Charger. This new gray must be popular. Here it is on a Porsche set on its own island on Palm Canyon Drive. You guys remember a Dodge Monaco? Here's a new Camaro convertible bought at Felix Chevrolet (an L.A. icon) and most likely visiting from those parts. And here's a Challenger at some MCM looking hotel on Palm Canyon Drive. @oldshurst442 It's not a 4-4-2, but close enough? Some people in SoCal can't get enough of USC. Not to forget an all black, everything blacked out, paint job. 4. Primer gray paint jobs whether matte, satin or gloss on any car is not remotely attractive and desired on my part. Its drab and depressing in my opinion. Id rather the plain vanilla white on that Charger.

Very few of the enamel grays are appealing to me, but this one, among very few, is ok. But, yes, white is both a good and a safe color for the almost timeless Charger. As for the gray, we had one in the family when my dad had an early '80s Regal/Century notchback sedan, but it was the dove gray that Cadillac was also doing at about that time and that color - both on the exterior and on the plush Limited interior - made the car look more upscale than it really was.

I know it is the freedom of property owners to do what they want with their land, but I always find it sad that people will trash the very place they live with trash be it matteresses or autos. Wish we would recycle rather than let auto's rust and dirty up places. Yes, cool to find old auto's but the majority, 99.9% of people have no resources to restore and care for these old auto's, time to let them live in the history books.

He saying that that negligent owners leaving an ICEV to rot will spew chemicals in the ground polluting our water. While true, since batteries in BEVs have more chemicals (hidden) than ICEVs, I would hate to see a Li-ion powered BEV in the same state as that Ford or Caddy if the battery is not removed to be recycled...

July 16, 20214 yr Author June 29 - Reno, in the casino area: I will always be fond of the last big reasonably priced GM coupe (this one is a Monte Carlo LS and has after-market wheels ... the LT with the upturned spoiler was a little nicer)! This car is meant to be white. Very nice, for being about 15 years old.
July 19, 20214 yr Author My last "archiving" of spotting photos into their proper month ... this was on June 30th 1. As it approaches, it steals attention from the 2 Subarus in this parking lot in a Reno NV suburb ... as if the Subarus even got any attention from me, except maybe negative attention 2. The driver sees his nifty T-Bird is being checked out and gives a "thumbs up" in acknowledgment 3. And he's off (shown from inside a merchant's store, hence the dirty glass)
