I got bad news last night (phone calls after 9pm are never good) that my older brother had died at age 72.  We had been estranged for years, esp. after our mother's death almost 6 years ago. He had a lot of issues in life, but I have to try and look at the positives--he got me into model cars 40+ years ago and got me into '60s rock music, Mustangs and '60s muscle cars.

He could be a really unpleasant and difficult individual, but was still family.

I'm sure he left no will, so now comes the messy aspects of cleaning up and clearing out the family farm (which I own 1/3 of), selling his car and motorcycle collection, cleaning up the property and selling it...

@Robert Hall My condolences for your family loss. Never easy to deal with loosing someone even when estranged. I hope things go well for you and your sister as you deal with his life's possessions. Wishing you all the best in this turbulent time.

My condolences to you also. I think looking at the positives is absolutely the best.

‘Family’ is often a strange, difficult thing. It can put people together who would otherwise have nothing to do with the other.

My condolences.

72 is awfully young.

A song for you and your estranged brother and for the really strange times we are living in.  Hope you are OK!!!
