June 22, 200619 yr Here's the lowdown: This fall, chances that I'll finally find something to drive are looking good. I'm hoping to God I'll manage to be driving a classic first-generation Pontiac Firebird, but I'm not going to bet the bank on it. I've considered some other options that fit my criteria (it has to be rear-drive) so I can have a backup plan just in case things don't turn out the way I have planned them to. I've considered more modern cars, too, and Cadillac's Catera has made it's way onto my list. The car is okay as is. But a thought crossed my mind: if I do end up driving one of these, could I graft the nose of the GTO onto a Catera? And with a little bit of fabrication and elbow greese, could I slap the taillamps on the back? Just a thought. Oh, and here's a Catera I found for less than $4,000. June 22, 200619 yr sounds pretty cool i was recently thinking about getting a GTO or other 2 dr GM car and grafting a 2004 impala SS nose and talk onto it . . . i always thought they should have made a 2 dr of that car

June 22, 200619 yr It might be more work than you'd think. The Catera and GTO, although both based off the same original platform, are different in size and shape. It's kinda like how GM couldn't use the Saab convertible version of Epsilon to make the G6 Convertible. When different engineers get their hands on the technology, it will evolve in different ways. I don't have any resources to back up this statement, so maybe someone more knowledgeable can tell you more (or otherwise). Edited June 22, 200619 yr by aaaantoine

June 23, 200619 yr it is a though decision, isnt it? but 4,000 dollars? geez, an vehicle that runs for that is probaly broke (or near breaking point). any way, why not wait a while AFTER you get your license (like when you get 18 or in college) that way you can save your money and can will have reliable driving experience. it's just a sugestion, but still... consider it... maybe? please?
