June 22, 200619 yr This could very well be something I'll start doing monthly...or even bi-monthly. You see, I have over a decade of old "Car & Driver" magazines stored in a Rubbermaid bin in my closet, and I need to put them to good use. Here's the idea I had: every month, pull one random issue out of mothballs and scan something random from the issue I select. It could be an ad, it could be an article. Every page is fair game. To start us off, I decided to show off a bunch of random junk. Since this is the first -- or last, I'm not sure -- it's deserving of a light boom. June 22, 200619 yr If only the Riviera (and Park Avenue) would have received the 4.6l V8 back in 1994.
June 23, 200619 yr Which car was quicker, an Aurora 4.0L, or a Riviera Supercharged? I'm asking. Yellowjacket: this is a great idea. Looking forward to more, over time. Edited June 23, 200619 yr by ocnblu
June 23, 200619 yr Which car was quicker, an Aurora 4.0L, or a Riviera Supercharged? I'm asking. Yellowjacket: this is a great idea. Looking forward to more, over time. Well, my father's SSEi is faster off the line than my car, but I give him a very good run at mid-RPM mid-speeds (35-75mph). I'm sure I'm not aided by my 3995lbs curb weight...well...not me...the car. Even with its iron block, the Bonneville is a good ~200lbs lighter for some reason. The 4.0l Aurora is far and away more smooth and silkier, but the s/c 3800II is alot more tire-squealing fun. I can chirp my car, but to do more would be gauche of this fine sedan.
June 23, 200619 yr That Olds looks like a warmed-over Lumina...the Aurora looks sooo much better. And I remember those Plymouth Places-one came to my mall! I was 6 at the time, so I didn't understand it fully at the time...didn't know what to think of it.
June 23, 200619 yr Probably the Aurora powered 4.0, if you ask me. The rear door on the blue Aurora sketch is very Lumina 2.0
June 23, 200619 yr Yellowjacket: this is a great idea. Looking forward to more, over time. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Maybe I'll make this bi-monthly then...
June 23, 200619 yr What a great idea! I had 3 decades (+ or -) worth of various mags until a few months ago - Zora and Arkus (my pups) got into them and there was mass carnage. Maybe I'll scan something from one of the "survivors" from time to time.
June 23, 200619 yr cool! can you scan more images next time you do that? just a segestion... he he...blue
