'07 Pacifica Gets 4.0 Liters

Chrysler also unveiled an updated version of the Pacifica people mover on Thursday. Exterior changes are modest, largely limited to the grille. But under the hood is a new 4.0-liter V-6, making 255 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque. that's just a little more torque than the 4.3 vortec yeah...but it is also 60hp more too

depending on the power curves, this looks like it isn't much better than the 3.6L.

prolly a good boost for the vehicle, for those that actually tow anything with it

? The Pacifica has always had the SOHC 3.5l. I think the OHV minivan engine was an option at one point though.

Base model is running a minivan engine. The 5 pass cloth interior models that came after initial intro (of loaded 6 pass.).

I'm glad to see it has more power and a better transmission, it should accelerate better and have better milage now. I like the headlight update as well, but I'm baffled why the center stack hasn't been updated.

You're 100% correct about the website...I know the 2005 model year had a 3.8/4A pairing for the 5 seat version...they may have cut that model along with production volume to simplify a low demand product. Lot's of Pacifica's on the road. They've always needed more power, IMO.

I hope the 4.0L & 6-speed ATX find their way under the hood of the new minivans as well. And wouldn't it be nice to have this powertrain available in the new Sebring/Avenger models?

Chrysler brought the pushrod 3.8L engine on board to compliment the new base model, 5-pass, fwd model they introduced. I'd assume they saved some money using the "old" 3.8L versus the 3.5L found in the higher-line models.....

It's because the Pacifica was intially only available with the 3.5L SOHC 300M engine. Later, in an effort to sell more and reduce the price, the ninivans' 3.8L OHV 215 hp unit was introduced. Later, Chrysler dropped the 3.8L from the Pacifica for reasons I don't know, and made the 3.5L the only available option.
