June 29, 200619 yr But last year, sales were up 41%. Down 36% for this year. Does it mean +5% from 2004?????
June 29, 200619 yr Just remember that last years sales inflation was as the result of the "Employee Discount for Everyone" event, which created one of the most impressive months of GM sales in recent history.
June 29, 200619 yr See those reports can be so misleading. How could they match the sales of last June when it was a blow out sale? Looking at the big picture they did really well. If they get the new products out faster they can keep their market share from falling. Also if they do some updates to the Chevy and Pontiac models they can also help the sale trends.
June 29, 200619 yr We talked about this when the GMS pricing program began. The numbers for this year are going to look horrible and the media will have a field day. We'll see how well GM can spin things.

We'll see how well GM can spin things. When September October and November are much better then 2005 Gm can say "we told you so." Edited June 29, 200619 yr by espo19047
June 29, 200619 yr But last year, sales were up 41%. Down 36% for this year. Does it mean +5% from 2004????? uhhhh..............no!simple math pretend: 2004 = 1000 sales 2005 = 41% increase => 1410 sales 2006 = 36% decrease => 508 less vehicles = 902 = 10% decline from 2004 another good example: one year, your stock loses 50% of it's value, how much do you need to make the next year, to break even?? start with stock at $10/share, lose 50%, stock is worth $5 to get back to even you need to return 100%!! good luck.
June 29, 200619 yr GM needs to expedite the Buick Enclave and Saturn Outlook to market. Speed up the Camaro project. Speed up the Cadillac CTS update. Bring the Buick Velite to market.

June 29, 200619 yr GM needs to expedite the Buick Enclave and Saturn Outlook to market. Speed up the Camaro project. Speed up the Cadillac CTS update. Bring the Buick Velite to market. The last 3 will do next to nothing in terms of volume. GM's growth needs to come from the Lambda's(X-overs and minivans) NG Malibu/Aura, and gmt-900 pickups. Zeta as a whole will help, but not the Camaro by itself.
June 30, 200619 yr GM needs high volume midsized cars. A Malibu that sells 30K units a month would help a lot, along with 20K G6 and 10K Aura.
June 30, 200619 yr GM sold 558,092 vehicles in June 2005... but GM only sold 380,267 in June 2004... Let's see how bad it turns out. Due to the extreme circumstances surrounding last year's sales numbers, I'm more so inclined to compare 2004 with 2006.
July 1, 200619 yr GM Dealers, in my area, are staying open through July 5th, as GM is allowing all sales through that date to be reported as June sales. The 0% for 72 months and the long month should boost the June numbers. Of course, the short July numbers will, probably, suffer.
July 3, 200619 yr Don't get rid of LaCrosse, just get an Epsilon body replacement asap. And upgrade the Delta cars. Make the G5 more Pontiac RWD V8 cars will get attention, but then most people end up buying fwd or an SUV.
July 3, 200619 yr Down 25%. Can someone post it? http://media.gm.com/servlet/GatewayServlet...n=2&docid=27076I have to say 30k for impala is pretty impressive ... Igor

Ford has been lucky this first half of the year.... Igor
