Automatic Transmissions
Dodge I wasn't complaining I offered my experience with a given product if you reread my post(finger OFF trigger please) you will find I actually liked the tranny but felt weird about the lack of shifts. Those cars were quite quick though they didn't leave the line well. I'd like to drive a new one to see how they have progressed. Also would like to drive an ugly Marano to see how they (CVT) act with a 3.5l V6 or if they use electronic set shift point locations Anyone have CVT experiences to share I'd like to hear you out

Destiny!!!
Camino that's sure is a great story on the note & phone call. And the 'vette is just like my neighbors son's car for 1972 he ordered with blk top 350 LT1 4spd. He had just went to work out of collage for Frigidaire with his Dad & used the class A discount(very little off a 'vette) listened to that exhaust note for the 3-4 yrs he lived in the basement (my br was next to the driveway) In Collage he had the uncivil brother to his Dads GTO his with a manual of course. Thanks for the memory Of candlelight and wine, castles on the Rhine The Parthenon and moments on the Hudson River Line How lovely it was!... (In my best Bob Hope)

My 1984 Chevrolet Celebrity (Marie), a dream car I wasn't looking for
I thought I remembered your name from WAY back Glad to see a few post & glad your back. As for the Celebrity sounds great to me I wish the new cars could be ordered as strippers with only the options you want, after all is GM et all gonna pony up the difference?

Automatic Transmissions
Bathy "People have long been conditioned to the perceivable shift- at the point that autos get so smooth one cannot discern the shift, you may well encounter a degree of backlash. I've heard that said of CVTs..." I can attest to the CVT's at least in year 1&2 Caliber they were used for company cars and so many inspectors hated them. Year 1 cars worked as they should by science, year 2 they were reprogrammed to have more pronounced "shifts" and were liked much better. Some inspectors would swap keys out for the newer car. Myself knowing what was going on I was fine and kinda liked the older car but it was eerie. Though the older cars had an odd detente in the throttle at WOT it felt mechanical and caused a downshift(electronically). I haven't drove any other CVT was wanting to try the Saturn Vue but they were trash so I didn't bother. Was Nissan's Murano very good,...anybody? Voted CVT

High fructose corn syrup, by any other name
I don't know but the Dr.s that wrote the sugar busters diet showed data that show diabetes growth rate was in direct collation to caloric sweetener consumption. Robert Atkins MD also showed that HFCS (corn sugar ) was the highest listed on the glycemic chart higher than even blood glucose(white bread & beer are equal to B/G)

Somebody didn't do their job
Yes the 3rd Gen Corvair lived in many future cars Vega got the 153 I4 eventually along with Monza, which probably really was the 3rd gen Corvair being the model name ie series hell it even got the V8 Spider(not Spyder). The F bodys were developed from one of the clays and the Grand Am a larger version of one of the clays. So in the end it all came out in the wash just not all in one load You could even say that the Fiero was spawned from Corvair and that was a very good thing

Somebody didn't do their job
Dare to compare circa 1965 Corvair's last hurray though they let it wither as the Panther/Camero was brought out Whiteknight "I don't know what it is, but I've always liked the styling of the second-generation Corvair." Could be that 1st gen Camero was styled in the same studio as 2nd gen Corvair. But I think that all other reasons above are valid for the loss of Corvair but the Styling issue was the nail in the coffin as Camero was quite similar looking but conventional in design and by 67 no amount of turbo could beat big block V8's the marketing was wrong as it was an import competitor not Mustang's more like VW Beatles or the Saab's & Brit cars, but with American sized interiors. I lived a lot of my adolescence in a 66 500 coupe lots of rear seat time with my 2 brothers and it was so much roomier than our later 73 Nova that we had earlier when new. The 'vair was a used car bought in '75 for me to drive as a first car. I still love those cars and would have one again in very good condition as a daily driver the first one got 47mpg hyw.
