Ford "Vista Roof"???
Yes, not only does the name Vista roof piss me off, that damn thing is just ugly, and in no way should be allowed to disgrace anything even remotely related to an Olds

Remember Marc ?
I've been to Finger Lakes, to the casino at their raceway.....I'm from NYC...Finger Lakes is very underdeveloped....quiet and peacful, my buddy was going to Syracuse ESF Environmentak Sciences and Forestry...right next to SU.....anyway, yeah FInger Lakes and NYC have about as much in common as Oldsmobile to a Yugo :P

Old VS. New
I know this is a stretch but do you think Cad designers even realized the similarities between the steering wheel from the new STS vs. a '67 Eldo? just something I spotted while cruising ebaymotors....thought I'd share :P

The last Rwd Oldsmobile
126K for a 14 year old design in the Ciera isn't bad at all IMO...

In the market...
I've heard a lot of horror stories about V6 Aurora trannys.... Mustang...I'm digging the Sig...Delta 88 coupe?
-
In the market...
Thanks for all the tips...this is very helpful....so the LSS' s had a firmer suspension and the Aurora seats? sounds good...I heard a lot of second gen Auroras have tranny problems?? I'm at a loss right now because I want an Olds, and while the Aurora is a great car, I don't want to spend that kind of money for a used car and have to worry about the tranny in a car thats not even 5 years old yet. My 96 Taurus need a new tranny at 44K and it was my grandfather's car that he bought new...and he never beat on it.

The last Rwd Oldsmobile
I'd love to see a chop of a Caprice into a Delta 88...and a Roadmaster into a Ninety Eight....
-
In the market...
Hey Ninety Eight...good to see you, I used to know you from GMforums.com, I went by the name "The Boat" back then....thanks for the suggestions....I'm taking all of your guys suggestion into consideration...I'd like a black gen I or II Aurora or a 50th anniversary Eighty Eight....I'm still looking at Ninety Eights though.

Oldsmobile Ad Slogans
well I own a '79 so of course I like "we've had one built for you" :P

The last Rwd Oldsmobile
Depending on how you want to look at it, you could say the Roadmaster wagon replaced it along with the Estate Wagon....

Cars Come Back
This is interesting, while I was expecting truck and SUV sales to slip....I actually thought it would be more than this. All I see these days on lots are turcks and SUV's....Chevy and Ford dealerships seem to have plenty over overstock in them now...while cars are no doubt still sitting on lots too...I don't think I've seen so many turcks just sitting around in a long time

In the market...
yeah an Olds with a 3800 seems to be the route I'll be taking...although I looked at 1999 88's and they say they get 19 city, 29 highway....thats well above my 350 rocket....I'm looking at the very last of the 88's and Auroras now....I want something under 10 years old....just for the simple hope that the car will last me at least 5 years before I have to buy another car again...and in 2 and a half years of driving my 79 I've put 43,000 on it...so I tend to rack up milage.
-
In the market...
I'm not a huge fan of the Roadmaster...if I were to buy a Buick it would be a new Park Ave Ultra in black....I'm also trying to get away from V8's for the moment. My rocket has me at the pumps three times a week at least and 20 gallons of gas aint cheap. I was however looking at the 94-96 Impala SS as I have always wanted one...but again the gas comes into play. So alas I'm looking into v6's and I'm and Olds man through and through...So I'm thinking of a first gen Aurora or as I said the 88 or 98. Torobud- why did you're 3800 eat batteries like that? and do you know how many miles are on it now?

In the market...
Well guys I need your help, suggestions, opinions etc....my Delta is just too much of a headache now. The carb is only working on 2 barrels, my wiring is shot, my tailights and turn signals in the rear don't work, I have no reverse lights, it needs brakes, and new shock and struts badly....so needless to say...I'm looking at a lot of money...so I'm thinking of buying a newer Olds...right now I'm looking at the last Ninety Eight's Eighty Eights, Auroras and Cutlass Supremes....I'm loking to spend around 5k on a car, maybe a little more if it's worth it...my question to you guys...what are the pros and cons, reliability issuses...with the 88's 98's Auroras and Supremes....I need a mid-to fullsize car, I know the 3800's are strong....but what are things I should look for, any and all comments are welcome :)

Will you support GM if they declare bankruptcy?
While I have yet to buy a GM car or truck, I am still die hard GM...I will support them to then end....but as far as them going under.... look at Chrysler in the 1970's....Then came Iaccoca and The K car, and the Voyager....GM needs a halo car and not a truck....*Tahoe*....They need to rebuild one division at a time...It began early in the decade with Caddy...but they need to stop with GTO's and so forth and concentrate on what is high volume and get a Malibu on the market that beats the Japs in every way...The new Impala is a very nice car...but still a step behind the 300 and the foreign makes. GM can rebound but the higher ups either need to realize the writting's on the wall NOW and put up or shut up, pack their stuff and get the hell out.

Olds owner
Will do Monte....try searching salavge yards online...I bought my bumper about 5 years ago now....originally for my 78 98, I got it online from Monty's Auto Salvage in Montana I believe...try a google salvage yard search....Yes I am awaiting membership approval for the B-body group

Cool Olds that never made to production
That green OSV Alero was a real eye catcher when it was shown in magazines when it debuted...for a FWD car, it had some muscular looks....I miss Olds :(

I used to live in Morris Park too.... on Neil Ave....off Williamsbridge Rd. Yes I've seen the racing on The Hutch....got stuck there at 4:30 in the morning waiting for them to race....southbound side....right at the entrance to the Hutch from 95....coming Northbound once, I almost wrecked my Delta because of some punk in his Integera pulling into the right and coming to a dead stop....from the entrance to the Hutch from City Island.... Unfortunately the only part I do have is a spare rear bumper....but I bought it to replace mine due to my rear bumper starting to rot out in the corners :( Sixty8...no Orchard Beach in New York :)

Olds owner
well I'm turning 23 in like 2 weeks...I don't recall seeing that car, however I've heard of the show at orchard Beach...but never been....too embarassed to pull up in my Delta....it needs work :( But I do live near Tremont...Throgs Neck end, by Country Club, and Edge Water park  how long ago did you move? what part of Putnam are you in now? BTW theres alot of street racers on Central Ave in Yonkers on Thursdays now....its annoying as hell...They always get thrown out by cops and always come back....You know the Nathans parking lot on Central? that where they meet

Oldsmobile Aurora (1st gen) Catalog
Agreed...it saddens me, after all the work they put into the Aurora, I would wear my name with pride AURORA by OLDSMOBILE
