I know some of you guys were excited for the Avista, I just can't see how it made sense for the Buick brand. If they refused to greenlight an IDEAL Buick in the form of the full-size Avenir boulevard cruiser with a design brimming with heritage cues, why would they pursue a compact RWD sport coupe/sedan whose only Buick trademark was the badge? Not only was the Avista out of sync with the rest of the brand, but it created a direct competitor to GM's own alpha chassis vehicles under Chevy and Cadillac.

If the price is right, it's a great entry-lux midsizer. I'd forego AWD personally (and the glass roof) for weight savings. There is no turbo V6 MKZ prior to the refreshed 2016 model.

I'm greatly confused by the application of the 10-speed transmission. I knew Ford and GM were working on it, but why is it going in the Camaro when the 8-speed CTS-V isn't even a year old? Will the Corvette Z06 and Cadillac ATS-V/CTS-V models soldier on with a less advanced performance transmission than a less expensive Camaro? Besides that, the Camaro ZL1 looks like it'll be an absolute monster. It may be the fastest of all the LT4 applications with its lower weight than CTS-V and greater ventilation than the Z06.

First, the Continental isn't built on the chassis of the defunct American Taurus. It's build on an extended Fusion platform. It will not have the same interior packaging issues as Ford's outgoing full size cars. Second, your judgement of the CT6 is extremely premature. Besides an exterior design that falls short of the Elmiraj concept, what exactly is wrong with it? The weight is incredibly well managed within its class, the 3.0T makes a potent 404 horsepower, and GM confirmed a 4.2L turbo V8 (as well as a hybrid) coming in a year or two. The interior has successfully sorted out CUE's greatest shortcomings and the initial reviews have all been very positive.

I'd love to see the CTS V-Sport refreshed with the powertrain from the ATS-V. The current V-Sport is plenty sufficient... BUT... if the competition starts catching up too much (the Caddy was the slowest one here) that 464 horsepower engine and GM's outstanding new 8-speed (V-sport uses an older, outsourced gearbox) would shave quite a bit off acceleration times without stepping on the full fledged V's toes.

I keep hearing the same thing about the Kia/Hyundai 2.0T engines! I experienced the first gen 2.0T in a '12 Optima and had similar experience. It revved up and made power like a...well like a slightly larger naturally aspirated 4-cylinder. I thought the new 2.0T would get fresh tuning and solve the power delivery issues, but apparently not. If I was buying this, it would need the V6 and a lighter colored interior because the one pictured looks stark and dreary.

Didn't kno. I gotcha tho. I guess oil prices effect U quick fast considering your current career. Yup. But I suspect I'm gonna wind up with an Alpha-platform something or other in the garage in due course. MT just did a comparo with the CTS VSport and it smoked the Audi and Lexus it was up against. Saw that. What thru me thru a loop was that Toyota charges (as tested) $87,000 for a 467HP car that is ugly as f@#k. To put that into perspective.. it costs just $13K less than my VSeries with almost 180 more HP The CTS-V actually starts lower than Motor Trend's listed base price of the Lexus. That's a no-brainer if I ever saw one.

Considering the 200 is selling less than 7k a month for the last few months, chances are it won't hit 100k itself, let alone sell 100k MORE units than a Mid Size Ram. Until December, they were selling 10-15k units a month with summer months pushing 20k. If that's not an incredible success for the Chrysler brand, I don't know what is.

The ATS-V already beat the BMW M3 in a comparison, and it straight up out-lapped it as well. I don't mind the Cadillac having its own engine, it has its benefits. A tuned ATS-V will walk away from a tuned Camaro SS. Let GM's performance portfolio be as broad and interesting as possible while we're still in this enthusiast-driven era.

Ouch! So much for the old tech I-6 advantage. That is a pretty brutal assessment by them. I think they crossed over into meaningless hyperbole land with that one. During the ATS-V, M3, AMG comparison, they had nothing bad to say about the BMW's sound and only ripped on the ATS, which by most accounts is still a pretty good sounding performance V6. I'm glad the Camaro SS got its win, but I hate meaningless hyperbole in journalism.

And yet you FERVENTLY disagreed with me when I pointed out the same problem with the new Fusion Sport and MKZ, despite the Corvette having far greater differentiation in equipment and appeal from a Camaro.

I did not know this person, but that is very sad and unfortunate. My condolences to her family and friends. Witnessing another person's mortality has a way of making us reflect on our own, make your life count one moment at time.

Just make sure you pick an intake where the cone is sufficiently isolated from any hot engine bay air. The term "cold air intake" is such an overused misnomer. My car had a cold air intake from factory, it was a sealed airbox with tubing leading away from the hot air under the hood. There are intakes that replace the box with a cone and claim to be a "cold air performance intake" that are the exact opposite of their advertised improvements. All I'm saying is be mindful of the purpose: cooler air and higher volume of flow. Try searching for the big name intakes on the Ford Ranger forums out there. Other people are sure to have installed and reviewed them with long term impressions.

There is a limit to how flashy you can go. Buick is above all, still known for being very comfortable. I don't want Buick to chase after any brand. So many companies think they can be better if they emulate other company's success. Of course if this was the 60s, then I'd reverse my words and say hell yes make a RWD barge like they used to. Blindly chasing sales and segments is not good. However, there is a time and place for halo vehicles. If say, Cadillac was the level of Bentley in prestige, and Buick was the level of Cadillac as it is today... would you not expect to just see the Cadillac of today reskinned as Buicks. Then the Avista would be almost what we consider the El Miraj concept, expect the El Miraj would be in production, and an Alpha coupe like the Camaro would be nowhere near as prestigious, and therefore would never overlap the Omega coupe. Some kinds of overlap are perfectly reasonable. Buick based off platforms shared by Chevy is perfectly acceptable, because by large, the new Chevy cars drive pretty awesome as it is. What they needs is the meat. And that's what they're doing. They should only get the Avista if they know for sure that the product delivers different things from any comparable Cadillac. Which is hard for me to believe. I didn't say anything about reskinning a Cadillac or using the Avista. I'm opposed to the Avista. I wondered if they would turn the Regal GS into a real AWD sport sedan like Volvo or Audi offers. We already know the car is on the E2XX platform, which means FWD/AWD. I'm just saying Buick could break their self-imposed glass ceiling and create a better vehicle with the equipment at their disposal. Torque vectoring AWD, active suspension, and a 300+ horsepower engine would be quite potent. I'd like to see turbo V6s back in the Buick brand. The refreshed 2014-2016 Regal GS is about 50 horsepower short of something far more special, why did they sit on their hands to the point that Ford took the obvious formula Buick was already staring at and will soon build a 325 horsepower AWD Fusion in the same price range?

Given that the Malibu comes with an 8-speed auto and 2.0T, I'm curious what this leaves for Buick besides AWD and a variable suspension. Buick's manual transmission take rate was far too low to continue offering. Will we see a Regal GS re-imagined as a meaningful AWD sport sedan and 300+ horsepower? The brand does seem to be lacking a meaningful halo car for generating brand interest and showroom appeal.

I doubt the cars will hold enough value for the owners to overlook a buyback. Once the legal case is closed, these cars will be permanently red-flagged for road use after the next emissions test.

This is really what I've been expecting all along. There's a reason every legal diesel sold in the US has a urea injection system. I don't see how they can retrofit a solution.

Are you sure you're not looking at figures for a 2WD/4WD though? On the EPA website, you have to select 2WD or 4WD before it shows any ratings. Go look for yourself before assuming I missed something obvious!
