Obamacare was touted as giving everyone healthcare, costing no extra money, not being a tax, and not affecting anyone's existing coverage. That was 100% utopian BS. -The online infrastructure to get people on the healthcare plan was a complete failure for the first 6 months -It cost EVERYONE more money -It WAS a tax penalty for everyone not enrolled -Millions lost their existing coverage - The online system has been fixed - It hasn't and you need a link to back up your statement. Healthcare cost growth has slowed to its lowest rate in 35+ years. Many states have seen double digit shrinkage in insurance costs. - If you think about it that way, then there is a tax penalty for not owning a house... but we don't think about it that way in housing so why would we with healthcare? - That was the insurance industry doing that. The insurance companies could have re-written existing policies to meet the new requirements. They chose to just cancel everyone instead. Get new insurance. We as a country need to stop going crazy about who our health insurance carriers are and which plan we have. People switch car insurance at the drop of a hat. We shop around, compare plans, and then buy the coverage that suits us best. Start treating heath insurance (and healthcare in general) like car insurance and auto repair... and we'll all be better off. I was simply pointing out Obama's exact sales pitch and why it was misleading and idealistic. Yes, insurance companies dropped the customers, insurance is a business, they had every right to. The president shouldn't have made claims that were unrealistic or out of his reach. I'm definitely pro-nuclear, we've gotta get past the "danger" and "pollution" stigma people associate with it. I'm also pro-wind and solar. Solar in particular has an incredible amount of potential when we figure out how to enhance the efficiency for converting sunlight.

You're likely right on the rider bills. But beyond that Obamacare was doomed by the culture of the U.S. as opposed to the politics (it is the former that influences the latter). As long as healthcare cash lacks the ability to be fairly distributed throughout all 50 states regardless of their individual economic circumstances, it will not work. Throw in the fact that there are long-established private corporations that a government-sponsored program has to compete against and it gets even worse. Look, I'm not going to go all Michael Moore and say Canada's system is perfect. But it works well for nearly all, most of the time. The US has the best medical care in the world. Obamacare will only prove to lengthen wait times and strain the system while taking more from the paychecks of those that already contributed. There needed to be digital reform and accountability fully implemented before anything else. IMO, it was completely the wrong time to attempt universal healthcare in the US.

"That's Not a Buick" Ad Campaign a Success?
The brilliance of the ads, if you hadn't noticed is its always old people saying "that's not a Buick" and young hip people who own/drive the cars. The message is, your grandma, who drives a Camry, thinks Buicks are not cool. What about the young valet that can't find the Buick because he's looking for a dowdy old person car? Or the young lady who can't see her friend's Encore for the same reason? The message is nobody knows about Buick right now, not strictly old people. Though most of the owners in the commercial are in the 25-40 age range like you mentioned.

I'm a moderate conservative. I believe in capitalism and small government, I don't believe in handouts or helping those who don't contribute, because of the sub-culture it has formed in the US. If you have no shame, you can live off the gov't and get paid more money for each kid you crank out. Unfortunately, shame is at an all-time low. I'm against Obamacare because it's equal parts utopian concept and political horsesh*t. The bill was 1000 pages long written by politicians to control healthcare and it's packed with rider bills we'll never know about. If you didn't know, politicians don't practice medicine. As a result, the bill fails to address the must fundamental, money hemorrhaging flaws in our healthcare system, and despite the magical fairytale claims of affordable care for everyone, the true result has been increased health insurance costs for everyone, and a special "obamacare" plan at the bottom tier of coverage that will essentially bankrupt any working-poor people who need a significant procedure. Liberalism destroyed Maryland (where I live and grew up) for the middle class in less than a decade, and frankly our new governor (who I REALLY like) can't hope to do much more than stop the bleeding and dress the wounds in his first 4 years.

I don't want to intrude on the system you guys have been using for quite some time, but I have yet to see the negative points do anything but cause juvenile retaliation. I've only had a handful of negative votes since being here, yet most of them were more likely disagreement points than actually offending someone.

Review: 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT 392
This review captures the essence of the new Challenger really well. It's an old school bruiser and the refresh tweaked the design in JUST the right ways. I'm also a huge fan of the 392 Hemi. I think that's the sweet spot for this car. I'd go as far as to say that if Chrysler had released this design and interior when they shuffled the powertrains and introduced the Pentastar V6, it very well could have shaken up the pony/muscle car wars.

My day was the opposite. Decent day at work, came home to my Amazon box with a 3-pack of Techron Plus injector cleaner sitting on the stoop. Only after setting it on my dining room table did I realize one of the bottles was leaking and left a trail of techron all the way through my house, culminating on the spot where I EAT. Took me an hour to clean up before I could even begin cooking. Finally ate at 9:45 pm with a grumpy face. Still a better day than the disappointment of Prime Day. Better deals than Black Friday my ass!

Pluto and Charon are proving to be much more beautiful and mysterious than anyone expected. Both have young surfaces, suggesting active interior mechanics, instead of being dead worlds like Mercury, our moon, or large asteroids.

Thanks man. Does it matter that the car is already set to hit 12.4 on pure gasoline? Power Enrich is programmed as a function of the stoich AFR (there's a multiplier table).

My most recent match-up happened coming home from work a few days ago. Getting off the highway, I saw two Mustangs--a '13-14 bodystyle coupe and a mid/late 90's convertible GT--aggressively maneuver through traffic and jump on the exit just ahead of me. Well the newer Mustang split off and went about his business, but I found myself lined up next to the convertible at a redlight. I figured he was about to launch aggressively and knew he had no idea what was powering my humble sedan. I shut off TC and STB for the most aggressive power delivery and waited. Was he modded? Didn't matter if it was a 4.9L or 4.6L, a couple of bolt ons could leave me in the dust. ...Green! He lurched forward hard and I got an ear-full of his surprisingly sweet exhaust, my cue to step on it. From a 10 mph roll I kicked down from 2nd to 1st and hit 7000 rpm in no time, I pulled on the Mustang REAL quick and gave a grin and a nod as I passed, he saw me and tried to scoff out a laugh. Having won easily and approaching another red light, I let off. I wanted to give the guy a thumbs up for the fun and ask if his exhaust was stock, but he drove by, eyes forward... then looked left and right at the red light and sped through it to get away! Gotta say he only proved he was just an asshole with a small endowment. I've never had someone run away in shame before.

GMC News: GMC Refreshes the Sierra for 2016
Uh, first off, both are merely refreshes, and secondly, the existing Terrain is still RAKING in cash for GM. So what's the problem? The Terrain's platform is at the end of its life and can't use many of GM's latest advances or engines, however, they're far along in the process of engineering its successor (see the Buick Envision). GM's plans for the Terrain nameplate specifically are unknown.

Ex. two days ago I walked a dummy in a late 90s Mustang GT convertible, and shamed him so bad he ran the next redlight and sped off.

13 out of 10,000 is not .84% (or 1 in 120)... I don't understand the math you used. 13/10,000 is .13% or 1 in 769. Perhaps I am wrong.. I came up with those numbers outside of following the methodology used here http://www.mathpages.com/home/kmath498/kmath498.htm yanked the other numbers from Autocar I'm not a statistics wizard, but I'm not sure how you found data for all the variables those equations ask for. I just went the simple route: if there are 10,000 Corvette Z06s produced and 13 of them had engine failures, then .13% of LT4s have failed, 1 in 769. Of course, just knowing this was a press model, possibly pre-production, throws off the math too.

The guy who wrote it certainly has a glass-half-full attitude about the engine failure: "But whether it was a due to a manufacturing or design flaw that Chevy needs to address, or was simply an act of protest after being subjected to thousands of miles of unspeakable horrors by uncaring journalists, it raised an important point: Sports cars break, and it ain’t cheap when they do. This is especially true of high-strung ones that spend much of their lives at the track, a no man’s land for warranty and insurance coverage. When something however small goes bad on a pricey import, mortgages can get involved. But with the Z06, you could blow through five or six engines completely and still not spend as much as the upfront cost of the competition. I know, there are residual values to consider and all that, but it’s something to think about." Makes a good point. You could buy a Z06 and several spare engines before reaching the price of the next closest competitor. Whatever the issue was/is, you can be sure GM is investigating with all intents to sort out the issue by the following model year.
