    What's wrong with craigslist if you use a little common sense? If you want to buy a car, make sure you see a title. As long as you're not helping any Nigerian princes to get their inheritance into this country, you should be fine.   2. I wasn't hating on you or Buick, but rather hating on General Motors for becoming the sad shell of the incredible company they used to be. Look at that '70 GSX. In fifteen years time, they went from selling actual fire-breathing purpose-built muscle cars and top-notch product with awesome styling across the board in all brands to bland, generic-looking cheesy garbage and never looked back. This FWD $h!box and others like it signify the first of many nails in the General's coffin. And there ain't many nails left. As you and Sixty8 were talking about before: look at the new Camaro. The car should be a hardtop, no questions asked. Only GM could build something so incredibly perfectly awesome and then somehow f@#k it up at the last possible second. Compromising on perfection got them to the piss-poor state they're in in the first place, and it would appear as though they could give a $h! less if said pitiful state ever changes.

    I'm so jealous. I'd kill to be able to have one of those wagons but they simply do not exist around here. I'd drive it every day if it had a six or baby eight. I've seen exactly one Oldsmobile Cutlass wagon of that vintage in a driveway twenty miles away ONCE like four years ago, and another that was rotted up to the door handles on the road about three years ago. $h!, I even wish I could get my '77 Cutlass Supreme sedan back. I loved that ugly tank! I paid $230 for this car and drove the wheels off of it. Ran like a champ and never ever EVER let me down. The only reason I don't completely kick myself for getting rid of it is that it resulted in me getting my '67 Eldorado. But man, I wish I had it again!

    On the rare occasion I go to see a movie, I will try to go to a drive-in if weather and time permit. I may be moving to a town soon that has a drive-in theater, so my patronage may increase greatly!
  5. There's one that's been sitting on flat tires rotting away in the back lot of a tow yard for the last two years that's a mile from my house. Has 90,000 miles on it and the burgundy interior is beyond mint. It was a beautiful metallic gunmetal gray before it all rusted off. Factory Buick rally wheels complete the look, and every single little trinket and piece of trim is present. Supposedly it even starts and runs and drives. Every time I go in to ask how much, the price goes up because THAT'S A GRAND NATIONAL, Y'KNOW! THEY GO FOR ALL KINDSA MONEY ON EBAY! Right. That's why it's still sitting exactly where you dropped it two years ago. Probably got it for free off an old man who decided he just couldn't drive anymore, too. What a shame. It's an odd variant of a BOF RWD malaise era coupe that I wouldn't mind having at the right price. Pretty sharp looking, really.

    Sounds like a guy my father knew that had a backyard full of tri-year Chevys. He sadly passed away and his wife sold them all off cheap because it pained her to see them.

A front wheel drive LeSabre coupe with ZERO performance modifications whatsoever and sporting such RACE-INSPIRED FEATURES (excuse me while I $h! my pants!) as a rear quarter window insert and embroidered floormats! That's the SICKEST MUSCLE CAR I'VE EVER SEEN!!! Oh wait, no it isn't. It's my grandmother's car with a f@#king different steering wheel. Kinda sad that a "race-ready" Buick used to mean this: OR, even more pathetic is the fact that in the same year that this FWD piece of $h! rolled off the assembly line, this was sitting right next to it in the showroom: Which one of the two would you prefer? Yeah, that's what I thought. Remind me again why a car whose deviation from the run of the mill production unit begins and ends at the emblem glued to the front fender matters at all.

    Outside of certain circles, not many people new much at all about Barney Pollard and he's hardly written about at all. Send a personal message to a member named jimdillon or call him out in a thread of your choice; he's Barney Pollard's grandson and is a pretty friendly guy that doesn't mind talking about his grandfather in public or private. Here's an excerpt that confirms all this: From what I understand, Barney Pollard also spent his earlier years (back in the 'teens) working for Packard in their Experimental Department helping to build race cars! He was quite a guy.

Not going to school for anything automotive-related. $h!, there's a college down in Kansas that offers a four year degree in auto restoration now that receives direct support from Jay Leno and a bunch of other big name people and companies. That degree would definitely land me in my dream job. 2. Not buying my friend George's old motorcycle when I had the chance. I could have had a $5000 bike for a thousand bucks and I'd still have it and be riding it and having fun with it right now. I felt it more fit to buy another old Cadillac that I obviously don't have anymore, although said Cadillac was traded for my '67 Eldorado in time. Maybe this one could go either way but man, I wish I had that bike! '05 Equinox: You're either barking up the wrong tree or not trying. Look at Siegfried and Roy. If one gay tiger trainer can go out and somehow find another gay tiger trainer, then there really is somebody for everybody. You just haven't found her yet.

    More like worthless rednecks who went out and spent their wages from the local screen door factory on beat up muscle cars in the early 80's instead of buying diapers for the kids they had with their sisters, then let them sit out in the yard for twenty years, then went and mooched off of the public library's internet connection some time in the early 2000's and saw what restored ones go for at Barrett-Jackson. Now they will only take above top dollar in #1 restored condition for a car that's rotted up to the door handles because, as we have seen time and again, a wing car or any other rare muscle car that sank up to its rocker panels in the dirt is like the redneck version of a 401K in their minds. They're all holiding out for the day when somebody will pull up to their double-wide in a white limousine and hand them a big bag of money for the useless old pile of $h! and they'll be able to quit their job and live like kings for the rest of their days and finally be able to drink brand-name soda instead of the generic WalMart $h! and have all the NASCAR team jackets and Kenny Rogers collector plates they could ever want. Happens all the time. That or a town ordinance against unregistered vehicles gets passed and the cars get confiscated and shredded per order of the local authorities, as you said. Either one. If people want to hoard cars, it is their unquestionable right to do so. If they never ever EVER want to let them go, then that's their unquestionable right as well. But would it kill them to take the extra thirty seconds to do so much as even throw a cover over the damn things?! $h!, look at Barney Pollard. I'd consider him to be the biggest car hoarder that ever lived and he's a personal hero of mine. The friggen guy bought every early automobile of any amount of significance he could get his hands on and greeted the federal government with a gun in his hand when they came banging on his door for the cars to be used for scrap during the Second World War. When he finally cut a deal with them to send one car a week to Ford Motor Company's River Rouge plant to be scrapped, he would only send Fords; after a few months, Ford and the government got the message and they left him alone. He had so much $h! that he used to drain the fluids out of the cars he'd bought and hang them vertically by steel cable looped over railroad rails that were laid across tall posts so he could cram as much as possible into his warehouses. He lost over a hundred cars when one of his warehouses caught fire and he still had over 1100 left! Talk about a nutcase! Think of any significant early automobile you know about: chances are it passed through his collection at one point. In some cases, the only example of a marque that is still around exists only because Barney Pollard bought it and stashed it seventy or more years ago. He did the hobby one of if not THE most incredible services of anybody to ever live. He hoarded relentlessly, sold seldomly, and, although he did so in a very unorthodox manner, stored his $h! properly. A toothless, mouth-breathing hick that lets more recent rarities turn to orange dust in the side yard because THESE HERE GOFER ALL KINDSA MONEY ON EBAY, Y'KNOW!, however, is doing the complete polar opposite. We need to find a way to make them pull their heads out of their asses and make them understand that they either need to $h! (restore or at least preserve) or get off the pot (sell) or else everybody loses in the long run. I don't know what kind of person could call themself a car guy if they have a significant or rare automobile in their yard in a terminal state of neglect and disrepair that initially made its way there in decent shape and in most cases under its own power. Talk about pissing down someone's back and telling them it's raining; I couldn't think of a bigger lie!

    Actually, although I do still currently live under my parents roof, I pay them rent. I also pay to store my Eldorado and my other car stuff. I'm also going halfsies on my college education. So to insinuate that I live virtually expense-free is quite an exaggeration. Also, please explain to me how anything done to improve the condition and operation of a vehicle would be "throwing away" your money, especially when spending a little up front often means spending a lot less later. Sounds like a no-brainer to me, especially for someone like you who has children; you'd think doing it the right way for safety and reliability's sake for their potential benefit and wellbeing if nothing else would be a priority, but I guess it isn't. This is awfully big talk coming from the guy who drove his four year-old daughter around for a while in a car that was missing its rear brakes and had the line pinched off with a pair of Vise-Grips, don't you think? As far as the '77 Oldsmobile is concerned, it is absolutely true that the car did one incredible burnout and an afternoon's worth of aggressive driving with low oil. But let's put it into context: I bought a car I didn't need (already had a perfect daily driver plus one extra at my disposal, remember?) for all of $230 and romped on it the day I bought it. But what happened after I pulled the stick out and saw what had happened? I immediately got oil and filled it. Then I drove it very sparingly; on the rare occasion I did, I monitored it carefully until my earliest convenience when I was able to replace the valve cover gaskets that were the culprit of the leak the car had. Then I changed the oil and monitored the level carefully after. How this one and only one instance of carelessness of mine you have witnessed translates into me "often forgetting to live by my standards" I do not understand. SO In light of all that has been said, what exactly have I "exaggerated for effect?" More importantly, what "effect" is it that I'm going for, I wonder? I don't understand why it's so incredibly difficult for you to just admit how unnecessarily hard and abusive you are on your vehicles and see that your refusal to spend a couple bucks to do something the right way the first time around hurts you in the long run. If you're willing to beat on something, be willing to fix it when it breaks, too.
