  1. From the way things are being described, a tombstone.
  2. This guy is shocked because GM tricked auto journalists? How old is he, four? Car companies always trick journalists, and the auto media itself is not the most reputable. Jim Wangers, the Pontiac marketing guru from the 60's, gleefully describes slipping Car and Driver a "ringer" GTO for testing. What Farago fails to see or point out is that while conspiracy theories can sometimes turn out to be true, they are much more often complete fallacies that people are simply more willing to accept in times of crisis. Does the notion that Jews conspired to lose WWI for Germany and destroy its economy seem plausible? Well, it certainly did to impoverished Germans in the 1920's. My point is that just because things are bad does not mean that any idea is a good idea. In fact, most idea like Dollinger's make things worse, not better. And also, let's be clear. Dollinger is not a "whistle blower." He's a self-promoter. He's proven that countless times on these forums.

How's the McCartney cd? I think some of his solo stuff is really underated. "Flaming Pie" is one of my favorite albums of all time.
  4. Yeh, there are Jewish rock bands and they usually are just as bad. The problem is that at its very foundation, rock is supposed to be against the institution. It needs to have an edge. It needs to be just a bit dangerous. Thus, when people are trying to reconcile religion with rock, they are stripping the music of what makes it compelling. By the same token, rock, even if you don't think it's the "devil's music", simply is not and will never be a vehicle to extoll true, unspoiled religious virtue. I think Variance is right - religion isn't supposed to be "cool." It needs to be above "cool," and these unsuccessful attempts to make it so only bring religion down. For these reasons, the near invariable result of marriage between rock and roll and religion is bad music that fails to get the point across. Disclaimer: It's 3:36 AM so I can guarentee neither the relevance nor lucidity of the above rant. My sincere apology if it made no sense :D .
  5. A couple of changes have made RWD good again. The first is that there have been many advances in vehicle design that make traction much less an issue. GM RWD cars in the 80's and even early 90's rarely had IRS, and of course did not have Stabilitrak. Todays tires also make RWD a safer option. A second factor favoring RWD is the fact that so many affluent people own three cars, one of which is often an SUV. When the weather gets really nasty, people often have other options. Finally, demographics need to be considered. The fastest growing states - Florida, Arizona, Nevada, California, Texas etc, are all in warm weather regions. That means that every year, there are more and more people in this country who don't care about how their cars perform in the snow. That's something to think about.
