GM is increasing Malibu production by adding it to Orion with the G6... so people are buying the Malibu.

Well, with HUMMER's center moving to South America, it's very possible the next gen of this vehicle will be imported.

Hmmm... I thought the CTS was just riding on the STS's version of SIGMA (longer & wider) than the last gen CTS.

That seems like the natural platform considering it's being used to replace the W-platform vehicles, but how many plants are needed to build Epsilon II? They'll have Hamtramck, Fairfax, and Orion (probably since they're adding Malibu production) in the US alone. Canada too? If GM decides to export Epsilon IIs as well, then I can see Oshawa coming on board.

I think the article is covering a lot of ground "time-wise." It is possible that all NA ZETA production was planned for Oshawa originally, which is what kicked off the huge initiative to combine the plant for 500k production. Between the UAW contracts, Cadillac's inclusion of Zeta (the ULS/16 was axed, Sigma canceled, and the STS/DTS merged), along with the Canadian dollar rising... LGR became a natural alternative for Zeta production. Because of the great concessions the UAW made, GM is leveraging Oshawa for the CAW contracts. It only has one product... that's not a good sign. It could be just GM holding back for concessions as well, but I don't expect GM to blink until the contract is inked. Even then… what will GM build there?

The first-gen TL (2nd gen Vigor) also had the Vigor's 5-cyl as its base engine = Acura 2.5TL I actually liked the Vigor. Never cared for the TL much. Loved the Legend. Lost the feeling with RL. Enjoyed Integra. Forgot RSX. sad... sad...

Har Har... fine... upon inspecting the articles, few were as critical about the interior's appearance as they were about the interior materials being beneath its class and the exterior styling being cobbled together. Edmunds Cars.com New York Times Channel 4 - UK - Kinda unfair... since it's a foreign review. Autoweek I stand corrected. If only the competition took as much pride in their cars inside and out.

Well, the current Lucerne's base price is under $27k, but don't expect that to be the case for much longer. For a no-frills large GM sedan, there you go. Once again, a Zeta-based Impala is probably just cost prohibitive. A large Epsilon II sedan would be less expensive to build.

You're going to shoot me for this... The exterior says Tall Sebring Wagon. The interior says mini Mazda CX9 with the center stack and gauges. Nice improvement over the previous package. I have a few people in my office who have the current one and they love it.

You know what, Yahoo Autos is right! Someone needs to contact Chrysler right now and tell them to cancel the Emergency Overhaul! The public has spoken! I'm not saying it's horrible, it's just out-classed and not what a brand new/remodeled 2007 Chrysler should be. Not even close. I've had one as a rental. My 1995 Chrysler Cirrus was better built, and had better interior materials. The only thing improved was the engine, since it wasn't built by Mitsubishi.

Oh please... you only want to see it because of Chris Doane... I mean Pine. Actually, sounds interesting. I'm skeptical (as usual) but think it could be pulled off and capture the next generation.

I actually agree. My interest is the Traverse. I want to know if it's actually the first Lambda clone or if it'll be unique "enough" to be a true Chevrolet Lambda.

US News Cars.com Automobile Magazine And... Car and Driver Finding criticism for the Sebring's styling, quality, or refinement isn't difficult.

Dodgefan... once again, much of that is speculation. You're not sure what is going on internally at Chrysler or Cerberus. They could be fighting over platform phase-outs just like we speculate GM is doing. We're just more prone to the "noise" coming out of GM than Chrysler/Cerberus. To date: GM hasn't abandoned RWD, Zeta, or performance.

Not entirely... Styling has little to do with budget. Even if the materials weren't the best, styling has been criticized too.

I'm interested to see how extensive the overhauls are. I'm also interested to see if it's too little/too late for the vehicles. The market is saturated with good-to-great midsize sedans and compact CUVs with more on the way. Has their 15 minutes already passed... if so, then what?

Dodgefan - Has Chrysler actually announced their CAFE plans? I know they've said the numbers are "attainable" but I don't think they've stated how they plan to accomplish it. You may be deeply disappointed. At the moment, there's no guarnatee Chrysler will be around by the time the new CAFE regulations go into effect, so taking their lead isn't the best course for any manufacturer. Z - I am aware of what you stated... however, much of that is unconfirmed and speculative. And as you agree, that outcome makes no sense. Flat out killing RWD makes no sense. Therefore I default to saying until GM announces that as an actual decision, I'm not condemning GM for it. Paranoia that Corvette, Zeta, Alpha, SIGMA, Kappa, etc are all going away is "wildfire" of speculation that has come from but a few decisions that have been tossed around and/or have been made. Even if you buy into everything that's been predicted, Cadillac is SAFE. That alone tells you there is a plan for at least Cadillac.

Camaro and Corvette are niche products even if Chevrolet sells 100k+ of the Camaros. They'll have little impact on Chevrolet's image if Chevrolet's trucks receive Hybrid technology. Despite the conspiracy theories, I believe GM ran the numbers over and over again and came up with a losing proposition for the ZETA-based Impala. To build it at a price-point that would undercut the G8 (which is critical to Pontiac's survival) and make it profitable may be impossible. Each Impala sold might have increased the amount necessary to break even on Zeta if it were to be built at a loss.
