NEW 2009 CTS-V!!!!
Oh, I do agree with that, the problem for GM though is that this market is rather particular about what it wants, so GM has to play by those tastes in order to succeed, however unnecessary or distasteful it may seem.

NEW 2009 CTS-V!!!!
Those 'DOHC fetishes' are now 3/4s of the Luxury/performance market, and anyone who ignores that is effectively damned in the marketplace.

NEW 2009 CTS-V!!!!
In the end import leaners won't care, because those who are accustomed to DOHC performance characteristics won't be swayed by anything that can't perform similarly or completely better. Just checking the Edmunds forums shows quite a bit of that mindset prevalence.

NEW 2009 CTS-V!!!!
Caddy really needs to use more lightweight parts for its top-line models to improve competitiveness, plus more exclusive components (with superior performance) to sway import intenders. This especially means the Ultra V8 for the CTS-V must outperform the 'plebian' pooprod LS engines.

Communist icon Trabant turns 50
BMW also uses composites to an extent, as does the Corvette, so that's nothing new.

Edmunds Compares CTS with Others
Quite right, GM really needs to use better materials to reduce weight even if it costs more upfront, the improved MPG and performance would be more than worth it.

Is Toyota in Trouble?
An Accord at this point seems a much nicer purchase than a Camry, particularly wrt performance and appointments.

Is Toyota in Trouble?
The way Toyota dealers treat customers, things may occur sooner rather than later...

Want to know when you can purchase a new CTS-V?
Still, those who prefer to have high-output DOHC engines should be allowed to have them, as they are still the larger part of the market.

2008 Cadillac STS 3.6l DI - Black Cherry
Presumably GMNA thought it wasn't worth the extra cost to upgrade the interior, however bad it may have looked.

Mid engined Corvette may get the go in September decision
Mid-engine for Cien or a Fiero, yes, can't see it for a Vette though. In any case, tradition getting in the way of innovation needs to be junked.

Mid engined Corvette may get the go in September decision
Hope this means a Caddy Cien will come up as well.

2008 Cadillac CTS - Car and Driver
Just wish that the CTS weighed 200 lbs less than it does...

GM RWD on hold?!
Would an Alpha-type platform be good with regards to MPG (RWD with smaller mass)?

GM Fails to Halt Toyota
As C&D put it, GM cars run longer in poor condition than most cars will even run at all.

Cadillac V-12 Concept in AutoWeek
As long as BMW, MB, Rolls, Bentley et al have V-12s, Caddy getting one is about damn time.

Decision coming on $100K+ Caddy
That's definitely a good thing, Caddy should expand upwards in any case and the Cien would be a great harbinger for future prospects.

Decision coming on $100K+ Caddy
Build brand equity, then build supercar, straightforward as that.
-
Decision coming on $100K+ Caddy
Getting the lineup to properly compete with 3/5/7-series and C/E/S-class vehicles should be Caddy's absolute priority, then build the Cien as the best GM performance car, period.

A case for the Pushrod Engine:
Wouldn't Magnaride tech be applicable for electromagnetic valve control systems?

Meeting Fuel Economy Standards Could Cost GM $40B
Why is diesel so expensive, curiously?

Camaro Could Spawn Large Cadillac
The STS should be uprated as an S-class competitor to allow for the CTS to fight the 5-series and a RWD BTS to fight the 3-series. Success for Cadillac requires building an S-class fighter first rather than waiting for later, as only experience and effort will ensure a successful vehicle lineup.

Volt will likely never be as cost effective as today's hybrids.
The logic of the haters is to give up since everything GM does is hopeless, well the only ones to gain from such stupidity is the import competition and the numbnuts who get off of their pronouncements. As long as GM still has anything at all materially or financially left in it then it should fight tooth and nail to build the best damn product possible and nothing less and treat the naysayers like the trash they are (and this is from someone who drives a Toyota).

E-brake shouldn't be an issue, electronic control should mean just pushing a button instead of pedals or handlevers.

Tonawanda Gets $300 Million To Build GM's Newest Engine
CTS-V should get an uprated version for better competitiveness with import intenders.
