A common problem with the new Civic
A car as expensive as the Civic, especially the upper end models should have DRL's along with every other vehicle that doesn't have them.

2010 Impala Drawing
It looks just like what it is, a 4 door Camaro. Not a very practical setup for a family sedan.

Life with the 3900
My buddys 3900 didn't seem too quick in the 60-90 range either, that is until it had about 25-30k miles on the odometer. Now it spanks any 3800 car we have driven in that range. Also idle quality has improved after the same mileage period. All 3900 Impala/Monte Carlos use the same 4T65 4 speed automatic transaxle as the 3800 cars with slight differences in final drives.

Life with the 3900
My buddy has now had his 2006 black Impala 3LT 3900 for a year now as a fleet car for Fuji medical and gets to take it home every night for his daily driver. I have driven the car many times with him so have made the following pro and con table: Pros: Spacious, quiet at cruise, lots of std features for cost, trunk space, performance, mileage, handling, workmanship, reliabilty Cons: Anonymous rear end styling, engine noise at more than half throttle, hard seats take getting used to, no floor shift indicators or glove box light a minor annoyance Now that the 06 Impala is fully broken in with 35,000 miles, performance and mileage have improved to quite respectful levels. We timed it with both a stop watch and G-force at 0-60 in 6.8 seconds with 2 of us aboard! The trip computer is now reading 24-25 combined mpg which is about a 60-40 ratio of highway to city driving which is an improvement of almost 2 mpg compared to when it was new. The engine has settled down a little and is a little quieter but still in our opinion makes more noise than it should. Still if your used to a 3800, you will love the 3900! It offers 40 more hp, similar combined mileage and a lot more driving fun. It's pure highway mpg may be slightly less but then again it has 3.29:1 gears vs 3.05:1 for all the 3800 Impalas. The seats are very firm but once we got used to them, they weren't a bother. The lack of a glovebox light was annoying at night and the lack of gear shift indicators made the center console look cheap. We also wish Chevy would put some padding in the door armrests like they used to. Rear seat legroom is slightly reduced from the 00-05 cars but worse, toe space is compromised because the seat comes almost to the floor from the covers. Ride and handling remain very good. This car can really pull around a sharp corner with the 17" tires. This car has only been in the shop once for a purge solonoid but otherwise has been trouble free with no squeaks and rattles, tight build quality and seamless interior fits. Overall it is an impressive car for the money and one that I can endorse to anyone looking for a medium to large sized sedan but go for the 3500 if you want steller highway mileage!

Lucerne colors
We can thank Toyota and Honda for that. They are the masters of souless blah colorless appliances.

In Depth: 2007 Dodge Nitro
I am just baffled on this whole Compass/Nitro thing. Surely the Nitro with Compass, Jeep front end would have made a far superior Jeep Compass. And the current Compass with a Dodge like front end would have made a better Nitro. It's like someone got confused when drawing up these 2 vehicles and mixed up the pieces.

Dealer on new Malibu:"It's going to be a home run"
There are many 07 Camrys at our 2 local dealers in Upstate, NY. As far as the Camry looking good: a turd pig can wear lots of lipstick but a good looker it will never make!

'08 LaCrosse Super Revealed to Dealers
The LaCrosse is ok but really needs to move into the new milleneum. Bench seats, wheel covers, manual seat recliners, 3800's and 4 speed automatic trannys are very 90's and have no place on a 25-34K Buick. Even the Chevy Impala is more modern in it's approach with std bucket seats across the board, std trip computers, newer 3500 and 3900 engines with AFM technology on the 3900, std drivers power recliner and manual lumbar support, better styling and more interior room overall. Plus the Impala drives better. What really was upsetting was the 32K LaCrosse CXS sitting at our local Buick dealer with manual seat recliners, the same cheap looking door panals as the base car, no power passenger seat, a single CD player and not much more equipment than the lower end versions. If I were Buick, the 3.6 240 hp engine would be standard say with 3.29:1 gears for 29-30 highway mpg, a Lucerne like grille would be in place along with bolder headlights, alloy wheels would be std, the Impalas power recliner and manual lumbar would be included on every model as std. This car badly needs to move a little more upscale to be taken seriously in the marketplace.

Chrysler Dealers Still Loaded with 2006s
DCX has many problems that are showing up now that the 300 glamor has started to wear off. Too many trucks, engines that are getting old and outdated, ugly styling, high prices on certian models etc. I will never forget the time I sat in a new 06 PT Cruiser that was pretty loaded up with the base 2.4 and started it up. It was very loud, crude and vibrated the steering wheel until it fully warmed up. This was right after getting out of my buddys 05 Malibu Classic with the 2.2 Ecotec which was much smoother and quieter and easier to live with. And the Cruiser was over 20K!

flint to produce the 3.6L
Believe it or not they are still making the old 3500 201 hp engine in the Rendevous. Maybe they had a stockpile of those laying around that needed to be used up but it is the one and only engine in the 07 Rendevous! Regarding the LaCrosse, I would think that GM is going to introduce the higher output 3.6 in the refreshed 08 LaCrosse if they decide to keep it.

WOW! New real-world pics of the Outlook!
Amazing what happens when GM actually puts some effert into a vehicle. And the icing on the cake is the final HP and torque numbers of the 3.6 liter engine will be greater than Toyotas puke-4.

Drove an '06 Malibu LT for a week.
While i'm not a huge fan of the front end treatment of the current Malibu, I must agree with you on the overall styling. It has gotten better as time goes by. The recent additions of a chrome insert on the door molding and those optional chrome foglight surrounds really make this car look sharp. It stands out so much more than the fat, bloated plain looking 07 Camry that I would choose the Malibu over it in a heartbeat based on styling alone. It also is rated at slightly better mileage and the 07 version has the more powerful LZ4 3500 with VVT which offered very powerful performance in a 2007 G6 I test drove. Plus I love the std fold flat front passenger seat, telescoping wheel, chrome guage surrounds versus Camrys plain 90's looking IP and the std equipment trip computer, even on the stripper value leader models.

'09 Camaro colors..
I'm praying that they don't screw up by only offering tan, black and drab gray interiors speaking of colors. This car begs for white/orange houndstooth and some more daring interior colors. Orange would look good on the outside too.

LA Times rips into the LS460
Lexus current models, like Toyota are so plain looking and all look so similar. Not one of them will ever be considered collectable in the future. They are for the here and now crowd that craves the Toyota hype and really don't care about cars in general; the perfect disposable luxury car.

GMC minivan??
Please tell me the new 09 minivans aren't going to look like that puke on wheels thing on the main page! Gosh the current one looks 10 times better and i'm not a huge fan of those either.
