  1. I agree with all your suggestions EXCEPT #2. Giving the Corvette to Pontiac would be ridiculous, and replacing that famous Chevy bowtie with that really ugly Pontiac symbol would be laughable. Believe me, Corvette owners would be totally enraged if that happened, and rightly so.
  2. I agree. There's no sense keeping the Pontiac division alive if all they're gonna be selling are the G8s and a couple of other gas miser models.
  3. "The 5.3-liter small-block V-8's exhaust roar has been muted, at the expense of three horsepower (for an even 300)." No problem! I gained that 3 hp back by first removing the totally useless resonator (and installing a straight pipe in its place) and then having the two stock mufflers replaced with universal Dynomax Super Turbo mufflers (part no. 17734). The exhaust sound is mellow at idle and aggressive at acceleration.

I haven't read or posted here for awhile. But after reading all the replies in this thread, I come away with the following impression. Basically, everyone wants Buick to offer its customers the choice of a LaCrosse or Lucerne model with a V8 engine option, but without having to pay for the optional equipment that comes standard with the Super models. I agree that Buick should build such models for their loyal customers.
  5. Question: Where is Mr. Wagoner? Answer: Let's hope not in the same place that Captain Smith was when the Titanic went down. Question: And what are his thoughts given the renewed urgency? Answer: He should be thinking where did we (or I) go wrong?

Unless you're refering to the GM Performance Division people, you're slapping their faces. Don't forget, they developed the Caddy CTS-V and STS-V and know how to get things done right. They also did a hell of an engineering job on the Buick LaCrosse Super. I happen to own one.
  8. Thanks for posting. It looks exactly like the one I bought last August. In fact, I had the ONLY one in the state of IL at the time, so I got a lot of stares whenever I parked it at grocery stores or restaurants. I'm 64 years old and have owned one true musclecar, a '66 Nova SS (with the L-79 engine), in my life. I can't say my Super is a true musclecar (FWD), although its 0-60 and 1/4 mile times are a little quicker than my Nova's. My son wants to buy a 2008 Pontiac G8 GT. I told him I liked the G8 GT (except for its dull exhaust note), but it's not really an older guy's car.

I think my PM to you was sent. However, to be sure, please send me an e-mail so I can get your e-mail address and send you the order# info. My e-mail address is [email protected].

On July 31st my salesman sent me an e-mail and said the car I ordered (LaCrosse Super) was built last week at the #2 Oshawa assembly plant and should arrive any day. Well it still hasn't. He gave me a copy of the build order. I'm wondering if there was any way I could check online to see if the car has left the plant yet and is in transit. I know this sounds ridiculous, but I'm getting a little worried about it. Thanks.

I couldn't disagree with you more, but you're certainly entitled to your opinion. I'm very happy with the Super's design, and I'm sure I'll be more than happy with its engine upgrade. As I said in a previous post, I test drove the Impala SS and GP GXP, and was very impressed with their performance, but not seat comfort. I've already ordered a Red Jewel Tintcoat Super (being built this week at Oshawa #2). It'll come with what were extra-cost options on the CXS as standard equipment, the main reason its MSRP is $31,310. I think that was a wise decision by Buick.

So they're not even offering the chrome wheels as an option? The last I read they were thinking about it (for ~$600-700 extra). I guess they got tired of customers complaining about the chrome plating flaking off (which is exactly what's happening to my '99 Regal GS's wheels).

I know of three other "baby boomers" (like myself) who've been waiting a long time for Buick to develop a performance car with comfortable seats and other ammenities for people with bad backs, arthritis, and an assortment of other ailments. I test drove both the Impala SS and Grand Prix GXP, but didn't think the seats were comfortable enough for my ailing back. The Super is supposed to have very comfortable seats with heavy side bolstering and DreamWeave inserts. And 300 Hp is more than enough for me. FWD is also OK; I'm now used to it by now. My main concern is the 5.3 liter V-8 engine's Active Fuel Management system. Is it reliable? I don't want to be stranded on some highway or rural road in the middle of the night because of the system breaking down, albeit OnStar would eventually help rescue me. I think a lot of unjust criticism has been leveled at the LaX super by people who haven't even test driven one. I know it's not a GNX, or GS, nor is it supposed to be.

Buick said they were going to announce MSRP and option prices for the '08 LaX Super sometime this week. I haven't seen anything yet, but was wondering if anyone else has?
  15. I just read the following story over at the Edmunds site: http://www.edmunds.com/apps/vdpcontainers/...28/pageNumber=1 The article also talks about an '09 Camaro SS (Black Devil?) variant that will likely get the LS7 engine. Sweet!!!!
