Pictures from a small NJ car show
Hey guys. Not only did I attend the Fall AACA show in Hershey on Saturday, I also attended a small car show in Windsor, NJ on Sunday. I took some pictures and have them in a Photobucket album: Link Of particular interest, there were two cars I took pictures of that are for sale: the 1955 Oldsmobile 88 (Red & White two-tone) and the Black & Silver 1978 Riviera Anniversary model. If anyone is interested, I did get phone #'s. The Olds really is nice (window sign stated $19,500); the Buick was equally as nice, is low milage and kept in a garage (I believe the owner is asking just under $9,000). Let me know if you want the phone #'s.

Fall 2006 Carlisle
ocn, technically, the flea market and car corral open at 7:00 AM and I'm sure that's when many of the show cars start to arrive (if not earlier). Last year due to the rain, I got there around 9 AM and many vendors were either gone or packing up (it was raining pretty hard). 2004 I got there around 7 AM and I still didn't have enough time to see everything! Honestly, when 2:00 comes around I don't know where the time went. Usually around 4:00 is when I make my way to the Hershey's Chocolate World to ride the Chocolate Tour and then make my obligatory stop for candy (can;t go home without bringing some treats back!). I have always stopped for a bite to eat before leaving Hershey around 5:30/6:00 PM. And remember, I have about a two-hour drive back to NJ!!! I say stick around and stay for dinner - it will be nice not to have to eat alone this year! Balthazar, I know what you mean. Either I've had other things bump my plans (family or work), weather not cooperating, or just not feeling well/just too tired to attend local and not-so-local shows over the last two years. However, I don't let anyone or anything stop me from going to Hershey. My dad first took me there in 1989 when I was 14 y-o, and I haven't missed a show since! This year there were some changes at work (a little less responsibility) so now I'm not as tired as I have been over the last four years (granted, I'm still tired - luckly not over tired yet). Reconsider - the show, as you know, is always a great one.

11 Lucernes to be Unveiled at SEMA
Personally, I like the CXL V6 model - but that might also be that I can't afford the CXS model that I truly desire! I think that they should do what Pontiac did with the Bonneville; the CX trim continues with the "basic" look, while the CXL gains the exterior looks of the CXS (much like the Bonneville SLE and SSEi/GXP were similar).

Fall 2006 Carlisle
Okay, let's see who we have so far dinner Saturday: 1. GMTruckGuy74 (me) 2. Oldsmoboi 3. Oldmoboi's friend ??? ??? ??? ??? Come on everybody and join us. Ocnblu - are you up to it? Anyone else? It's too late now, but I should have bought a C&G shirt or something to have worn to identify myself. But I'll more than likely be wearing my black GMC hat, so that will be a dead givaway. Let's pick a place to eat at and a meeting place & time too. Places: - Hershey Chocolate World (visitor's center) KIT KAT “GIMME A BREAK” Café - Red Robin - Applebee's - Bear's Den (Hershey Lodge) - ? other suggestions ? Time: - 4:00 PM - 4:30 PM - 5:00 PM

1977 Chevy Vega wagon...
There's a similar looking one for sale right around the corner from where I work... it doesn't have the woodgrain panelling, and the owner used it for racing I guess b/c it has a 350 or larger V8 under the hood and some other changes from stock. Asking price? $13,500!!!

Fall 2006 Carlisle
About 4-5 years ago, the AACA added a day to the show (Wednesday) so now vendors start to leave early on Saturday. I can remember the times when I'd get there at 8:00 AM and be able to walk through all the vendor areas (they started packing up around 3-4 PM). Nowadays, I can't get it all done in one day, but have a hard time either getting off from work on Friday or can't get a hotel room anywhere close to the park. You're absolutely right Balthazar - there's still plenty of people around come late afternoon. But to see the really good vendors, you have to start really early. This year I plan to be on the PA Turnpike by 4:00 AM so that I can get to Hershey about 2 hours later. I want to start bright and early - especially if there's any rain (vendors start packing up earlier when it rains ). Again, everyone - let me know if you are interested in the dinner concept.

Fall 2006 Carlisle
Well, one PM so far (Oldsmoboi). Here's a great idea... maybe all of those going on Saturday can meet up for dinner? There's a Red Robin, Applebee's, and of course the Bear's Den in the Hershey Lodge to choose from, in addition to the restaurant in the Hershey Visitors Center. I think it would be great to start a C&G AACA Fall Show tradition. It's so large, and I'm usually all over the place, it may be hard for me to meet people during the day. But if we set a meeting place towards the end of the day at the show, then go from there to where ever we want to eat, might work out better. Anyone interested in this idea? Ocnblu, Hudson, Balthazar, Camino??? Btw, I go to this show no matter what (rain, mud, shine)... so I'm up to meeting who ever goes too

Fall 2006 Carlisle
Balthazar, from my experiences most vendors have packed up by late Saturday afternoon and are gone. So I'd say do your trip Friday/Saturday instead. FYI - the show runs from Wednesday, October 4 thru Saturday, October 7. Three days and counting! I can't wait

Saturn Aura XR
Spike, can you do this favor for those of us with inquiring minds? Or anyone else with access to an AURA and a digital camera?I learned about a week ago of this feature on the AURA; the VUE Redline offers this feature too, but only in the footwell areas (never seen it in person though). Too bad SATURN didn't make this feature a part of the SKYs option content - it would have been another separator from it's Solstice cousin. Tis could be a nice feature offered only in SATURN's an no other GM division.

Fall 2006 Carlisle
Sorry Hudson, I'll be there on Saturday only. For years now I've wanted to make it a two-day event, but I think getting a hotel room IN Hershey would take a miracle from Jesus! Not only that, one of the duties of my job didn't allow me to be away from work (being a class advisor means October is homecoming time). I'm no longer a class advsor, so that issue doesn;t exist anymore. However, this year I'm taking three days off a week and a half after the Hershey show to take the family to Florida, plus I have some conferences to attend - so there will be plenty of absences from work in October for me. And of all years to be there for two days - the Futurliner will be there and I can imagine the crowd it will generate on Saturday. I plan on leaving my house by 4:00 AM to make the 2-hour trek there ealry enough to see the Futurliner before the crowd mobs it. Of course I'll stay as late as possible to see it and get some decent pictures if that plan doesn't work out.

Fall 2006 Carlisle
Camino, isn't that college in Doylestown? If yes, what's the date of that show? I'm probably 45-60 minutes away from there and would like to attend if possible. I too have missed out on many shows the past 2-3 years and find myself making a pact (with myself!) that 2007 will be a return to my hobby roots! And I'd like to take the SKY to whatever shows will allow me to enter it, at least that way I know I'll get to enjoy it a little more (only put 957 miles on it since I got it back at the end of April). TIA!

AHHHHH!!!!!!! Scary Cars! Booo!
I went SKY hunting this weekend... at my dealership there was a Silver Graphite (like mine!) SKY Redline and a Polar White SKY (non-RL).... at the next closest dealership all they had was a Black SKY (again, non-RL) out in the back. Finally, saw a Silver Pearl SKY on the highway today travelling in the opposite direction. Almost missed it! Great looking car though

razoredge, you need to call your doctor and get some pills to deal with your obession over S A T U R N. SATURN is going nowhere any time soon. SATURN is getting new product and will draw more people into their showrooms in the next year or so. You're going to see more SATURN's on the road too. You better find a dark little corner of your house to hide in so you don't see them. Without medication, you may go into overload mode and explode. I fear for your family's safety if that ever happens. From, A caring and very happy SATURN owner

Fall 2006 Carlisle
ocnblu, I went to Hershey last year event though it rained all day. It's the only time I really recall it raining on a Saturday at the Hershey show (plenty of memories of mud from rain before the Saturday visit). While not the greatest day spent at the Hersehy show, there were still vendors there and plenty of cars on display - mostly in the car coral and auction areas. Still, I couldn't bear not to attend this show - it's the only one I haven't missed EVERY year since 1989. So I'll keep my fingers crossed that Saturday's weather is nice. I can't wait to see the Futurliner!!!
