Is a Canyon refresh coming anytime soon???
Anyone here know if the GMC Canyon (and Colorado) are scheduled for an update for 2007? I know some of our insiders have seen the new models coming out over the next 30 months, and I was wondering if the Canyon was getting an exterior and maybe an interior upgrade. I'm hoping for something that makes it more differentiated from the Colorado this time. Something like this: 2003 SEMA Show - GMC Canyon AT4 Also, does anyone know if a performance version (a'la Syclone) is in the works too? I'd love to find out GMC is bringing out a sport-performance Canyon, even if they had to call it Canyon Denali I'd still be happy. TIA for teh info!! :)

2006 Chevrolet
I gotta tell you, I like the new '06 MC's too. Even though the frontend is generic looking, I think this is the best that the MC has looked since the 1995 MY was introduced.

2007 Envoy?
All I know is that I love our new '05 Envoy SLT (regular length model). I made sure to lease it because I knew a new Envoy was around the corner in '07 or '08.

Roller Coasters
Just recently went to Six Flags Great Adventure (Jackson, NJ)... rode Kingda Ka - the world's tallest, fastest roller coaster (0-120 mph in 3.5 seconds/456 feet tall). Not as bad as I thought it would be, couldn't tell how high you were going up, but when you reached the top and saw how all the cars in the parking lot looked like micromachines, and then the 90 degree angle straight down... whoa!

Roller Coasters
Ummm... those two rides are in the Disney/MGM Studios theme park (DisneyWorld) - not affliated with Universal Studios. :P

Ages?
30 years old here (31 on Dec 23rd).

07 Escalade
 Hahahaha! All they did was remove the bottom portion of the bumper, and there's no changes to the grille. I'm in agreement with others here that it's a Colorado body on a Hummer H3 mule platform. Remember what our insiders have said about the possible Hummer H4/Hx: Theta will most likely be the platform used for that, not the GMT-355/356 (Canyon/Colorado/H3) platform.

Pontiac's 'Nomad'
Also, the Pontiac Safari was longer than the Chevy Nomad (lengthened in the rear) and used real leather on the seats. So while sharing the roofline, the Pontiac is not just a '50s rebadge of the Chevy version. I like the '57 model the best, btw. And the Safari name continued after '57, but it was on a 4-door station wagon body. I beleive 1990 was the last year for the Safari name on a Pontiac wagon (yep, GMC & Pontiac both sold vehicles named Safari at the same time).

I hope Ninety-Eight Regency comes back..
I too miss Landis (98Regency) around here. When I joined 2 or 3 years ago, he was a daily poster and I always enjoyed reading his insight. I still have the Oldsmobile video tapes that he was sending out and was nice enough to include me at the last minute. 98, if you're reading this, please come back!!!

My new "ride" (8-23: NOW WITH PICS!)
The funny thing is that my best friend came over Saturday night, took the Envoy out for a spin and was hooked! He liked it so much, he decided it was time to trade in his '01 Nissan Maxima. Only problem? No '05 Envoy SLT's around... so he went with the 2005 Buick Rainier CXL AWD instead!!!

AZTEK ONE YEAR REVIEW
When I first went to the dealer about the GMC Envoy, the Internet Manager pointed out to the lot at a dark red Aztek (btw, the very LAST one, a base model with plastic wheelcovers) and asked if I'd be interested in it, seeing as how I was a current Rendezvous owner (if he only knew how I couldn't wait to get out of the Rendezvous lease.. what an assumption on his part!). My 11 year-old's eyes lit up at the thought of getting an Aztek, as he's liked them ever since they came out in 2001. Boy it was hard breaking his heart!!!

Buick 2006 - 2010
My best friend just bought a 2005 Buick Rainier CXL AWD and is totally thrilled with it. I better not tell him that there's no replacement scheduled after 2007 for it.

GMC close's the roof to the XUV
That was my problem with it. When GMC announced this new innovative feature on a new Envoy model, I was excited. But once I saw the vehicle, I thought it looked oddly proportioned. I drove an '04 model at the 2004 Philly "Auto Show in Motion" and it rode and handled nicely. The dealership in which I leased my regular Envoy SLT had a leftover '05 Envoy XUV SLE 2WD model that the salesman told me they couldn't give away (hey, if it was free with the purchase of an Envoy, I would have taken it!). The sliding roof and midgate should have been engineered on the regular length Envoy - maybe it would have sold better and I'd bet it would have looked 10x better too!

GM owes me something!
2005 alone I've been very good to teh General: One of my students <who just got her license> - bought a 2005 Chevy Cobalt Coupe in January after asking me for advice(originally considering a Scion TC); Mom & Dad - bought a 2005 Saturn VUE AWD V6 in Febraury after asking for my assistance (originally looking for either a Jeep Liberty or Ford Escape); Sis & Bro-in-law - leased a 2005 GMC Envoy XL SLT 4WD in May after consulting with me (originally considered either a Honda Pilot or Nissan Pathfinder - both with 3rd row seats); Me & the Wife - leased a 2005 GMC Envoy SLT 4WD last Friday; My best friend - having owned a Nissan Maxima since 2001, was very impressed with my Envoy Saturday night that he went out and looked at them today; no '05s left, but bought a 2005 Buick Rainier CXL AWD instead! That's five sales I've brought to the General this year alone; unfortunately, I lost one sale - my aunt, who was looking at Chevy Equinox's but really wanted and got a Jeep Liberty. I need some commission or some free service on the new Envoy or a trip to see those new introductions that the auto media got to see a couple of months ago

Toy Cars
You know, my local Toys R Us had those in-stock the other day I went (that's not the TONKA truck I bought for him though; maybe Christmas!). It was $29.99, and I know Target and Wal-mart will be at least $5 cheaper. But it was a cool TONKA truck nonetheless.

Toy Cars
Well, I was really into TONKA trucks. Had a ton of them, seeing as how I got a lot of them for birthday and Christmas presents. I was born in '74, so I had a lot of the late '70s and early '80s TONKA's. Of course there were the Matchbox and Hot Wheels cars too. Then Star Wars and Transformers (Go-bots too) and GI Joe. BV - I too have a basement full of toys I've collected over the last 10-15 years that I'm now thinking of turning into cash. I know how you feel. Maybe eBay is the answer, although I live close to a really BIG flea market and probably could make some good $$$ if I wait a month or two for the holidays to roll around.

Hummer vs Jeep
Will these "pissing wars" ever stop??? Of course the Jeep guys are gonna go and make a video like this... Hummers are appearing everywhere and are putting their little Jeeps to shame. Sure, I could take out my camera and film every Joe-Schmoe who goes and buys a Hummer without any offroad driving training too. But why don't they show the Hummers pulling out the Jeeps? I've seen that footage too on tv and on the 'net. My toy is better than your toy... blah blah blah. I like both brands (Jeep & Hummer). And this statement couldn't be more wrong - Of course GM used the Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade architecture as a basis... that doesn't mean that they put a Hummer body on top of a Tahoe frame!!! Plenty of engineering went into the H2's design to make it a capable off-road vehicle. Take a stock H2 and a stock Tahoe/Yukon out onto an off-road course and see which vehicle was engineered to be the off-road truck. Don't get me wrong - one day I will own a Jeep Wrangler. Maybe if Hummer produces the H3 in pickup form, I may own that first. But these are two great brands and enthusiasts for each will try to show why there's is better than the others. Thanks for reading my rant. :P

Say hello to the newest member of my family!
Thanks everyone! :) Of course he has to be trained in the ways of the automobile... I won't have it any other way. Most of his clothing is car/truck related, and we went out of our way to find automobile-themed bedding and room decor - construction trucks! I already bought him his first TONKA truck - of course he can't play with it for 3 more years, but hey at least he's prepared! And while shopping at a mall a couple of months ago, a KB Toy store was going out of business and I found a diecast GMC Terradyne that is sitting on his shelf to bring him up on GMC's from Day 1. Hahaha! She had him 2 days after I found out about the GMAC lease pull-ahead, so I was hoping to have brought him home in a GMC. That didn't work out, but with the addition of the new Envoy on the 19th, he'll be carted to the doctor's visits in style from now on!!!

"Sweet Home Illinois"...
You're not kidding! I live in the southern central part of NJ, and not too far from Philly. I moved away from the Trenton area b/c the traffic was always a nightmare. Traffic (and the insurance rates) are a huge problem in this state.
