Well an adjuster is coming to my house tomorrow. I filed the police report today, and hopefully this lady's insurance company sets me up with a rental car pretty soon. I'm gonna call them today and see what's going on. ocn, thanks for the diagnosis. I'm already looking into a replacement car as I know the damage is pretty bad.

Thanks for the tips guys. The woman was indeed covered, and her insurance company is sending an adjuster to my house on Friday. They didn't dispute at all that the accident was clearly her fault, and as soon as they speak with her and confirm my story, I should be able to get a rental car while my car is being fixed. A friend of mine is taking me to the police department tomorrow to file an accident report. So financing the repair shouldn't be an issue, as long as it's not obscenely damaged. BTW if anyone knows the Boston area, this happened on Centre St in Newton. The cop was nice and helpful, so hopefully his friends at the station are the same. I'll be sure to keep you guys updated on my progress!

If they go by retail, my repair ceiling goes to ~$7,500. That seems like a better shot to get to keep it.

The trade in book is $4,600 or so. Is that what they go by? If so I think the repair will go well beyond that.

Wow Dodgefan, if they quoted you $3k for that my car is probably at least twice as high. The car is indeed drivable as I drove it home, but there sure is a hell of a lot of cosmetic damage. I'm thinking I might have to start looking for a new car. Thanks for the well wishes guys. I'm OK, just a slightly sore shoulder. Just sad to think about leaving my car in a junkyard.

I was sitting a red light today when a car slammed into me, pushing me into a van in front. I didn't hear any kind of skidding, and the woman that hit me didn't even look flustered or sorry. Here are some pictures of her handiwork; the insurance adjuster on the phone said it sounded borderline total loss. It's hard to see in the pics, but the actual metal bumper is pushed in pretty far. The back is awful, and the front also has some minor damage. So what do you think? Is this car repairable in any reasonable budget?

New Hampshire is a little slice of the South nestled in New England. Very low taxes, but atrocious public schools. Quite rural, but very pretty mountains.

I was actually rear ended today too. My poor Saab is pretty messed up. I'll post pics in a separate thread. C&G curse?

Color's a bit much.

The factory is quite a place. It's the biggest building in the world by volume, and when I was there they were building the new 747-800, 777, and 787 all at the same time. It has 3 different cafeterias in the same building. The 787 should be a huge leap forward because of its new LED lighting, bigger windows, higher humidity and cabin air pressure, and roominess. Plus, since it's lighter, not only will it be more fuel efficient, but it can take off more quickly, reducing lines to take off and it can also service airports that don't have a runway long enough for today's planes in that class.

I just took a tour of Boeing's factory near Seattle last weekend. I saw some 787s surrounded by all sorts of equipment very different to the efficient assembly lines for the planes that work. This program is really the make it or break it for Boeing; it's waaay behind schedule. But once it's operational it will be fantastic: much more comfortable, faster, quieter, more economical, etc. I just hope it eventually makes it in the air.

Looks pretty decent actually. But something about every Nissan rubs me the wrong way for some reason I can't quite put my finger on; something to do with their overstyled and bizarre interiors I think.

I remember that Cadillac wood. Zambrano or something like that? They put it in everything before their current Art and Science thing I believe. I think it's actually legitimately very expensive wood I think from Africa? Anyway I always liked the STS interior and vote the Caddy.
