  1. Have you ever seen the parking lot at a synagogue? Seriously, my step-Dad is a Rabbi. He had a M-B E430 Sport. Big piece of turd. Blew a tranny at 60K and was in the shop constantly for electrical issues. Traded it for a '04 Escalade and is looking to upgrade to an '07. He did have some reservations about driving a German car, but the reality of the unreliability of the car was what persuaded him to dump it.
  2. Done. 71% domestic.
  3. Amen Brother. We're on our second Dodge Grand Caravan. Anyone who has kids can appreciate the absolute convenience of the true minivan. Power sliders/hatch are a joy to behold. I wouldn't want a vehicle without them. I see the trouble my SUV-driving friends have with getting their kids strapped in in a parking lot with no room. My sliders make it all easy and stress-free. Not to mention I have plenty of storage space. Their SUVs get filled with a stroller. I will continue to drive minivans as long as I have small kids to cart around. There is no substitute.
  4. Work me a lease payment on one with dual power sliders and power liftgate. ZERO down, sign and drive. 24 months/15K miles per year. Very curious because I just did this deal on a Dodge Grand Caravan SXT and feel like I did well. I am curious what a CSV goes for in the real world.
  5. You suppose someone at GM put the driver up to it to get some funny press?
  6. At least Ford had the balls to make a RWD V8 manual shift car continuously, and not puss out like GM did when it killed the F-body. You gotta gove them respect for that. I'd say the current Mustang is a pretty decent value and a fun drive.
  7. Seriously, if you floored a Charger R/T and felt nothing then I'd take that car back to the dealer to be checked. The Hemi has plenty of stones. I have spent LOTS of time behind the wheel of a Magnum RT AWD, which is heavier then the RWD Charger, and it's plenty fast.

I think the dash looks cheap. I think either of the GMT-900's dashes look much better.

  14. I wonder if they will be so sanctimonious and condescending when they review Toyota's all-new 2008 Sequoia?

No V6 can ever or will ever sound like a V8. There is no replacement for the rumble or the feel that is SO RIGHT. I drive a 4 cyl car and a 6 cyl minivan, but every time I have a chance to drive my Dad's Magnum hemi or my Stap-dad's Escalade I do it for the sheer joy of the V8. My next car will have one, with DOD/MDS and I can live with the fuel economy as well.
  17. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060523/ap_on_...e/gm_gas_rebate What do you all think. I think it's a cool idea.
  18. The problem I find with GM's 4-5 detented position tilt-wheel is that it NEVER feels completely "right". Either I end up adjusting my seat to compensate or I just drive with the steering wheel in a less-than-desirable position. My '03 Honda Accord LX that I bought new for $18,700 has a infinitely adjustable tilt & telescoping steering wheel. Why GM can't seem to get it right, especially on a "Lexus-competitor" like the Buick Lucerne is beyond me. Such a downer to see a nice car like the Lucerne get nickel-and-dimed by the bean counters. Why not just put the power tilt/telescope column in from the DTS? That detail is enough to turn me off as a buyer. I also have a '05 Dodge Grand Caravan which has a detented tilt-wheel...but it has many detents so it can be adjusted to a finer degree and I always seem to be able to find a comfortable position. Have GM's engineers driven any of their competitors' vehicles and studied the details that make owning them such a pleasure?

GM has to: Continue to make product improvements, and market the FAB (feature, advantage, benefit) of their technology. People want to know they're making a wise investment, not just the cheapest deal. And for Pete's sakes: Make a 10 year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty standard on EVERY GM VEHICLE. No BS, this will drive people to try GM if they feel they won't have to worry about long-term durability. This is a no-brainer of GM's cars are as reliable as they say they are.
  20. GM has the best "new car smell"! :)
