Guys, I had an STS and those numbers are not that far off. Struts are in the $700 range each for the variable suspension, look it up. Mine was burning a quart of oil every 1000 miles steadily. That's considered normal. When I traded it in it was up to a quart every 400 miles. The Northstar also has a problem with the half case seal leaking, it's a huge expense - most just live with it if it's not leaking too badly. And there's the infamous head gasket problem, go to any Cadillac forum and the number of Northstar owners blowing head gaskets is very troubling. The engine has to come out and you're talking about a $3000 job. Yes if you can get one new and maintain it religiously, or buy one that has complete maintenance records you MIGHT be ok.

A four cylinder/four speed auto Malibu priced over $20,000 is going to be a disaster. Expect huge rebates quickly on that model.

Anyone who thinks the Cobalt interior is anywhere near the quality of the TSX interior has to be blindfolded. And probably lacking the sense of touch also. The TSX interior just exudes a quality look and feel for it's price range. The Cobalt is ehh....allright.

This thing absolutely blows away the G6 coupe.

The vast majority of buyers will not buy RWD in the snow belt. Of course there are exceptions but if you're a volume, mass market seller, RWD is a problem up here. Here in Connecticut almost everyone who has decent income has an SUV in the garage and AWD sedans are getting very popular. I don't profess to know the exact percentages but looking out at the parking lot at work and around where I live it's 90% FWD or AWD.

That basic drivetrain is a dog in today's world. The Lucerne is a heavy car and that detuned 3800 is working hard. The 3800 has never been a great sounding engine (I've had two of them) when revved. But I love to hear some engine growl when I drive, yes even the 3800. And whover is talking about the ancient carbed 3.8 from the 70's has to remember that engine had no balancers like the newer ones. It just shook all over, which is why the mounts didn't last long. I had one of those 75 Skyhawks with the 3.8 and a four speed. Bought it used - it was owned by a fanatic woman and was absolutely mint in 87 when I bought it. Wish I never sold it. I always loved that Monza/Skyhawk coupe style.

Some of you people are ridiculously close-minded. I have an X3, I got it over the wagon because the lease was way cheaper. BMW was running great lease deals on the 06's. The X3 really scoots, handles great for an "SUV", and has that tight, quality BMW feel. It comes standard with the giant moonroof, automatic (or 6 speed manual), DSC, AWD of course, nice wheels, etc, etc. Drive one before you blast it. It's a great everyday commuting car. And I'm not a GM hater. I have an 04 Escalade, an 06 Malibu Maxx, and an 84 Corvette. The BMW has a very different feel than any current GM product. I drove the SRX and liked it, but to me the X3 is much sportier.

Yeah, I have a current Malibu Maxx and we love it. Great everyday car. Quick, handles decently, lot's of room. Seems to be screwed together pretty well and has a great ride. We also have an 04 Escalade and an 06 BMW X3 and the Malibu gets lots of use anyway. I just think they missed the boat on the sedan styling, I like the looks of the Maxx but hatchbacks don't seem to sell very well.

It will be a huge seller, with the usual waiting list in it's first year. Guaranteed.

The GTO failed mainly on looks. It just didn't look like an in your face muscle car, and in fact resembled a bloated Cavalier from many angles. Many GTO fans wanted a GTO that looked like a Pontiac and brought back memories of the legendary GTO's. I think GM rushed this version out and figured it would sell like hotcakes from the performance and name alone. It's a great car really, but fell short on image. Also GM didn't offer a moonroof. They're an absolute steal on the used car market.

Wow. That car is hot. And it's being offered right off the bat with a 300hp option. Also AWD option. BMW knows what it's doing. And they lease great too. Typical residuals are in the 65-69% range for 39 month leases. There's a reason why BMW's are so highly desired. They just make great sedans (I know this one is a coupe).

I agree. A person might not like the Avalon but a review like that just shouts "I never really drove this car but I'm bashing it anyway". The Avalon is not my style of car but I have been in one and it's a quality piece.

Satellite radio is great. Rarely listen to CD's in the car anymore. Sound quality is excellent and so is the variety IMO.

Doesn't the Jaguar X-Type send 60% of the power to the rear? I drive one and it doesn't feel like a FWD car at all.

I like it. We have an 04 Escalade and the new one is a nice upgrade without making the current model seem totally obsolete. I think I like the exterior of the current one a little better but the interior, drive train and features are a big step upwards on the new model. Especially the 403 HP :P .

Ha, Ha now that's really funny. The only way to sell the Saabaru is to actually sell it for LESS than the equivalent Subaru model. And GM loses money as a result. And people are trying to say this car was a smart move by GM???
