Um, think about the principle of economies of scale. By your logic, no one should have bought a personal computer in the 1980s because they only had limited functions and cost so damn much. Look at us now--had computers not caught on by early adopters, we'd be further behind now. Also, there are some people who care about the environment enough that they don't mind paying more simply to stick it to the oil companies in the form of using hardly any/zero gasoline.

Depends on if you're talking objectively or subjectively.

Agreed. The A8 is nicely-executed, but it isn't mind-blowingly amazing. It's like they filled in all of the bubbles, but did so perfectly and without any stray marks. It's just a rather sterile, straightforward design.

US House Shows E15 The Door
Yup. I'd go as far as to say we shouldn't be subsidizing agriculture, period. Given what has been said about the much lower yields of organic farming, I wonder what the economic effects would be if US farms all stopped using pesticides and grew organically. Specifically, what would happen to crop yields and therefore the amount of ag subsidies?

If I didn't have to park on the street, Volt. But I do, so it would have to be fossil fuel. Sometimes I can't have it all, believe it or not...

No, I quite like it, except potentially that one design element I referenced earlier. I'm just not creaming myself over it either--because it doesn't warrant that. And I don't have any problem with GM switchgear on principle--GM's ergonomics are generally above-average, and I don't find recent switchgear to be sub-par in tactile feel.

Yes, adequate. I am not a fan at all of the matte, metallic-look plastic, and all of the Chrysler interiors have a lot of it. The 200 is a huge improvement over the Sebring, but it is still an "adequate" interior for its class. I do like the artful center stack, but I find the plastic metallic-look trim on the steering wheel, around the instrument cluster, and around the console shifter to be a bit much, especially since I think it clashes with the much more tasteful chrome interior accents. I also find it completely unacceptable that the dash and forward door panels are only available in charcoal--that's just cheap. Now, Chrysler improved the hell out of the interior compared to the nasty Sebring...but I don't think it's class-leading, and it certainly doesn't blow every interior in its class out of the water. Truth is, there aren't too many SUVs left these days, and I agree that there isn't anything I can think of that is vastly better, however I can think of several that are on par--and that means "adequate" because none of them IMO are above-and-beyond the rest of the competition.

Exactly. I find it pretty hard to swallow when an individual takes great pains to distinguish between interior quality among the $100k class, yet absolutely gushes about Chrysler's finally-adequate interiors in another thread. All of these cars are quite competitive with each other, interior-wise.

I never said it didn't compare favorably--it does. What I disagreed with you on was your assertion that the level of detailing is so high that it puts most of its class to shame--it doesn't. I'm not sure what the tangent about dash designs was all about--those types of photos certainly don't showcase fine detailing like feature closeups. And I saw what looked like a lot of potentially fine details in the other interiors. Is the Karma a more interesting, avant-garde interior than most of the others? Absolutely--but I wasn't debating that. That said, I want to see more color combinations before I can decide whether or not I like the two-toned seat concept--right now I'm leaning toward "weird."

Not really. When was the last time you looked at the $100k luxury market? It's good, to be sure, but only in the sense that an American manufacturer has finally matched the imports in terms of detailing...at least since Cadillac was actually a world standard.

2011 Buick Regal Turbo Manual reviews
Guys, let's rein it in a bit. The Regal isn't competing with a BMW M, M-B AMG, or Infiniti anything--that's Cadillac's job. Buick is competing with Acura, Lexus, Volvo and Lincoln, so let's keep a bit of perspective here.

Chevrolet Cruze Gets A Diesel For 2013
Historically, GM has NEVER been able to market their products well. When you're #1, they kind of sell themselves in a way, I guess.

Pa. teacher strikes nerve with 'lazy whiners' blog
Funny, my favorite teacher was my high school Calculus teacher, followed by my 5th grade English/Grammar teacher. I wasn't much into chem, so I can't personally disagree on the covalent bonding, but several of my friends were very engaged with it. I wasn't because that particular teacher never seemed to be able to answer my "why" questions, instead just directing me to read the book, or do more problems.

What's up with all of the false dichotomies? Of course there are students who resist learning all the way...but if every.single.student is like that, methinks the problem isn't just with the students.

Pa. teacher strikes nerve with 'lazy whiners' blog
In some cases...but honestly, if the class is super dry, boring, and not challenging in the least, kids will be bored and disinterested. If the teacher gives a $h!, that goes a long way. But think about who your favorite teachers were and why...and do the same with your least favorites. Any trends surface? I know my favorites were very positive, inspirational and motivational while challenging me with the material. My least favorites were so freaking easy and boring it was a waste of time to be in class.

Are you guys on crack? Of course it is the teacher's job to present the material in a way that makes it interesting and accessible to foster active, motivated learning!!

Cadillac Announces Shield Owner Benefits Program
...and who are able to afford Cadillacs? Also, if you get a company phone, it's more likely than not to be a Blackberry--so there goes the over-40 stereotype. It just seems stupid to me to develop apps for only 2 platforms, especially when the 3rd is the most likely to be a Cadillac buyer.
