replace radio on 04 Grand Prix GT
well, it's a W body.. if it's like mine, you can take the shroud around the radio off by a few screws under the steering wheel, the whole piece is conncected. then it'll be mounted with screws with to sheet metal. for ~$10? crutchfield can send you instructions on how to do it.

US House Shows E15 The Door
remember, there are subisidies for farmers to NOT grow crops on parts of their land. but there has actually been a subsidy to flood fields recently for water foul because, supposedly, of the destruction from katrina, or maybe it was the inland hurricane that came though my area ,2 years ago? Cspec, brazil has been pressuring us through the ....international trade, something, to end our protectionist tariffs and subsidies on sugar and ethanol, respectivily.

Bulldozer?!!
http://blogs.amd.com/work/2011/02/22/amd-at-isscc-bulldozer-innovations-target-energy-efficiency/ hopefully they're not trying to lie to us - "hype" The Bulldozer core implements numerous improvements that target super-efficient computation in all aspects of the design. These features build on and extend the foundational innovations that were discussed as part of the “Llano” disclosures Fully power gating the core to essentially zero power when not in use Sharing components in the dual core design (instruction fetch, decode, L2 cache, FP) to make more efficient use of them while still delivering the performance of a true dual core. This is sort of like the efficiency of a duplex home design where heat, plumbing, foundation and electrical infrastructure can all be shared, but the structure still provides independent homes for two families. Optimizing the low level circuits for maximal efficiency at all levels. For instance low-power flip-flop design shown in paper 4.5 yesterday at ISSCC provides innovative power reductions for one of the biggest power consuming circuits in the core. The clock grid (another big power sink) builds on the power efficiencies of past designs, and adds more improvements. Perhaps most importantly, the grounds-up design opportunity enabled an unprecedented level of clock gating (see figure below from the paper) to reduce power waste as shown in the graph below. Retrofitting a design to add logic to turn clocks off when circuits aren’t used is a time consuming and error-prone process. The Bulldozer team designed these in from the beginning which enabled the inclusion of over 30,000 individual clock enables to be used. And finally, a next generation AMD Turbo CORE technology implementation that provides maximum compute speed when required, and throttles back to maximum efficiency when appropriate. Bulldozer implements a significantly more aggressive version of this capability than “Llano” with more details to be disclosed in the future. Putting all these improvements together means the high performance computing engine that is the Bulldozer core will enable the best of both worlds: great computing speed without the costly and unpleasant side effects of high power consumption. Initially AMD plans to deploy this core in desktop and server products, but it may provide the foundation for efficient processors across AMD’s product line for many years to come.

new powertrain for impala?
it is what it is. for the most part a great appliance, several available options, big, and cheap. what else offer's it's size and simplicity for that kind of money...and available parts too, for replacement needs.

new powertrain for impala?
didn't cali have those prices in 08, did the same thing happen, or has the recession delayed those change in trends? Hyper said $5-7...yes people will still try to get by, but will place a burden on people till they can't pay for it anymore, and still eat and provide shelter. as i've shown in the politics room before, gas is actually nearly it's all time low in relation to commodity prices, i use silver price for easy math, yet "we're" still being pushed into these cars that only started taking off in the 80's (toyota's/honda's) partly by regs like CAFE. i'm not against this tech getting into "mainstream" cars, i just try to show the ramifications of such prices on people based on the current trends. edit: partly confused this article with the e-assist, and trying to address what was brought up. http://money.cnn.com/pf/features/lists/global_gasprices/ Italy Milan $5.96

new powertrain for impala?
if oil get's that high, many people won't be driving, let alone buying a new car... their old ones won't be worth much either. if it can't get 40+, it's to the scrap or sitting someplace not moving. the cost of anything new will drastically rise.

new powertrain for impala?
imperial gallons or US gal? i've gotten 37(us) once in my 3.1L monte.
-
new powertrain for impala?
although i could wish for a DI 3 valve i-vvt v6, just for the IBC v6's sake. i doubt the 3.9L will survive. looked on chevy.com, it's been down rated to 230hp? and 235lbft, i think iirc. should be a money saving proposition, but will it actually make it a better car?

new powertrain for impala?
can i vote for the 3.0L turbo w/ 6speed?

Cruze XFS -- Guiltless Performance
i like it, but i'm guessing only the torque would be different in this motor vs a DI 1.4L pushed alittle more? using the same hp/in^3 as the lnf the 1.4L should have ~180hp if DI is added in your specs you say the effective displacement for the 2.0L is 1.5L, would this be better than just using a 1.5L? just off the top of my head i'm guessing barely yes, just for rotating mass for torque, but that's only the first thing that came to mind. (other than the not needing a new engine)
