I read on another forum that the Anthem won't be sold in the U.S.

I am one of the few people that likes the new Navigator, but it will be 2 1/2 to 3 times more expensive than I can afford.

It just looks like a long wheelbase Dart to me.

I don't think AH-HA was incorrect, but I think GM made a huge error updating the W and G bodies in the 2004 to 2006 timeframe instead of having RWD replacements. The economy was healthier (or pumped up thanks to Greenspan's bubble and Bush's tax cuts and deficits) and RWD cars would have been a big hit at the time.

I agree with the first two sentences of the second paragraph in the post above. There will never be another RWD Chevrolet sedan after the SS. I was on C&G over 10 years ago when AH-HA gave us the big announcement of GM planning a big new program of RWD cars to replace most of its large and mid size lineup. We all know what became of that. I regret that GM merely updated the W and G bodies during 2004 through 2006 because RWD Grand Prix, Lacrosse, Impala, DTS, and Lucerne would have succeeded then, before the Great Recession. Today, the mass market only cares about FWD compact and mid size sedans and crossovers and pickup trucks. I just wonder how profitable the RWD Cadillacs of the last 10 years have been. As far as converting the Malibu to RWD, I have read that one former Ford executive (I think it was Chris Theodore) proposed a sedan based upon the Mustang because Ford could never compete with Camry/Accord, etc. However, that was proven wrong because the Fusion has succeeded. The next generation FWD Malibu will succeed with better styling and a roomier interior. I am very confident that the next generation Impala will continue to use a LWB version of whatever platform the Malibu has and will not use the RWD Omega platform.

Other than Camaro, Corvette, and Cadillac, I doubt GM will sell or produce any other RWD cars in my lifetime, and I am almost 50. I don't believe this Car and Driver article.

My understanding is that (1) Dodge isn't getting a version of this 200 and (2) the RWD Avenger replacement depends upon the new RWD platform Marchionne wants to develop for Alfa Romeo. However, it remains to be seen if Fiat can get the financing for that new platform as it currently can't access Chrysler funds.

I always assumed the SS's main purpose was to help out Holden and that car would have a short life.

I would just align Chevrolet, Opel, Vauxhall, Holden, and the lower end of Buick China with the same products under different names.

I think this talk of a V6 Dart is wishful thinking by Allpar posters.

I agree with heavier duty pickups and a small van. I would like to see either a Cruze, Verano, or Regal wagon (but only one of the 3). I like the idea of a Cruze hatchback, but Chevrolet already has the Spark and Sonic 5 doors, and the Sonic is almost as large and roomy as the Focus. I don't think Buick needs a flagship in the U.S. (maybe in China), but the next version Lacrosse needs the larger trunk of the Impala and XTS.

I honestly don't think Buick could sell more 500 Regal coupes per month in the current market. The upcoming Anthem is where Buick can get some volume.

Regal GS which was a supercharged sedan was awesome and plenty of them around at least here in Washington. So you do not feel the need to have a performance sedan in the buick family? Buick has the Verano turbo and can add the 3.6L turbo to the Lacrosse if needed. I don't see the need for the Regal in the U.S. market. I wouldn't mind seeing a Riviera coupe developed off Alpha.

From a business standpoint, I think the Regal should be dropped. I don't think Buick needs anything between the Verano and LaCrosse.

I would take the xD over the Versa because of Toyota reliability. I believe the xD is basically a long wheelbase Yaris with a Corolla engine. However, the VW Golf is the only hatchback that really appeals to me, but it is in the class above the xD and Versa. I find the Fiesta and the Sonic to be overstyled.

I read somewhere that SRX is moving to Lambda, but the next generation Lambda will be combined with Epsilon.

The TSX is the same thing as the Japanese and European Accord. I don't know how well the Japanese Accord does, but I did read recently that the European Accord sells poorly and will be discontinued. This may contribute to why the TSX may be discontinued.

I wouldn't mind seeing Scion sell the European Toyota Auris or Avensis in the U.S., but I don't know how successful those cars would be.

Won't the Anthem use the new Delta based platform the new Equinox and Terrain will use?

I would think the Verano would really appeal to LeSabre, Lucerne, Century owners wanting a smaller car. The Verano is the most appealing Buick sedan to me, although I wish the fuel economy were about 10 percent better. At least for me, I can see no reason to choose a Regal over a Verano, and the Lacrosse has a ridiculously small trunk.

Other message boards say the next Cruze will be even slightly larger than the current model.

A poster on another board succinctly described a problem with GM's lineup "Cruze's additional interior size over Focus makes it a lot close to the Malibu which in turn cannot be increased in size without compromising Impala's postion. Look at Buick's line up Verano-Regal-LaCrosse and the compression/overlap is worse as the Regal and LaCrosse are both slightly smaller than Malibu and Impala."

The 2014 Malibu underwhelms me because I dislike the front styling. However, Chevrolet is stuck with this until probably at least the 2017 model year. GM probably put the car on a shorter wheelbase to protect the Impala, but I expect higher prices will cause sales of the new Impala to drop. The next generation Malibu must be lighter and significantly more fuel efficient because of CAFE.

I am sure that the 2.0L Ecoboost will be the primary engine in the CD4 Taurus that will debut in a few years. With the popularity of crossovers, increasing roominess of mid size and compact cars, CAFE, and declining middle class incomes, I do question the future of the Taurus/Impala/Avalon class of cars after this generation, just as the Mondeo/Insignia class of cars is declining in Europe.

Some people pay $40,000 for a Taurus Limited, so I am sure Chevrolet can sell a few Impala LTZ's for about the same price. My problem is with the base Impala with the 4 cylinder being priced the same as a Taurus SE with a V6.
