ATLAS ENGINES
Well the incremental cost of the four was minimal once they decided on the six and five cylinder models. the topic ... to opine on maximizing the outlay for this engine family so I don't understand your angy emoticom unless its meant in humor and the spirit of the season -- Merry Christmas!

ATLAS ENGINES
I would argue that the 4 cylinder is the best of the Atlas engines as it is class leading except that arguements about which is better between divergent objects is not fruitful. As to your second point .. the whole idea of this "topic" is to minimize the effect of the cost by conjecture as to other uses of the engines.

ATLAS ENGINES
I read that the ecotec was unusually compact and light in design, but still what features make the Atlas so much taller as they are both in line dual over head cam engines?

Motor Trend 2006 Car of the Year
It wishes that it were 140. According to the Honda web site its 132 @ 5000 rpm. I'm not saying the civic does or does not deserve this piece of shite award. However the Si with its Corolla dash board, boring style, and rubber band band engine may be the least qualified of all civics. Personally I prefer the natural gas civic.

Strongest GM Brands
Perhaps as sales go up, more brands become advantageous. As total sales drop, the extra brands(thnking GM and VW here) may become a hindrance.

Springhill Plant
Bean counters ... those guys who we blame for every radio knob that doesn't please us our responsible for the meme that Saturn has lost money every year of its existance (even in 1994 when production couldn't meet demand). Accountants have many tricks. I wonder now that Saturn will be "selling" back to GM its production facility, will they change the claim of Saturns proftiability. Probably not.

Interesting Read
If memory serves me correctly, the early 60's toyota 4x4(yes the one that lookslike the upcoming FJ) and Nissan Patrol were actually GM 3/4 ton truck designs that were sold to them.

You almost always get a blind spot when you add a shitter to your car.

More Hints On Zeta Production? Spring Hill?
One of the spring hill employees posted on Saturnfans.com that larger vehicles such as the new croosovers (Lambda) wouldn't be built there because the turns in the aint shop were too tight to allow this. Would zeta be significatly smaller than Lambda? Would the paint shop be changd? So far all the talk is about making the line 1 flexible -- no mention of paint shops.

HHR is hot, so GM raises target again
I saw my first HHR yesterday. I was out in the yard baby sitting the 8.5 grandchildren and a beige/tan HHR drove by. My yard is below street level si got an unusal angle/view of the car. It lloked great and it looked substantial.

H3 road test
I agree about the "spoiled brat" attitude that 300 hp. and more is a necessity of life. My primarry vehicle is an extended cab Sonoma pickup with a 115 hp pushrod engine (God forbid) and I get there eventually. As a matter of fact I would agree with you 110%, if that wouldn't disprove your comment "more is not always better" :):) just being silly.

Michael Moore Slams GM
In 2000 Michael Moore did support Ralp Nader, but in the 2004 election Moore got down on his knees and begged Ralph Nader not to run (don't get all dirty mouthed on me) :) In the 2004 Michale Moore contributed to, supported and endorsed Wesley Clark. Clark did indeed rebuild the motor on his family car himself because of lack of funds. I wonder if Clark's engine troubles were exasperated by the months or years at a time that he would be stationed overseas.

Michael Moore Slams GM
Lot's of venting here and I guess that serves some purpose. However, this is an auto entusiast site. In the run up to the 2004 nomination Michael Moore endorsed the one candidate who rebuilds his family car's engine himself. How many of you even know who it is? I speculate that such an individual would look more understandingly at GM and other auto producers than those candidates that don't rebuild engines themselves.

Motor Trend 2006 Car of the Year
Are there any complelling stories in the automotive industry these days? Isn't the standard line that the use of non-propitory computers and their software, as well as all the contract players like Lotus, etc. mean that there are no loosers today.

ATLAS ENGINES
And the 180 hp 4 cylinder would make a sweet "secretaries"car.

ATLAS ENGINES
As I understand it, the Atlas engines include that 6 cylinder as well as the 180 hp four cylinder and 220 hp five cylinder version as used the the Colorado/Canyon twins.

ATLAS ENGINES
I read today that the Camaro was coming to the 2006 auto show circuit and was an extension of the kappa platform. These engines might be a good use there? No flaming please.

Analysts Say GM Needs Product Appeal
How about the Jeep Commander! Isn't Ford bringing out new large SUV's? GM is the least guilty of all these manufacturers.
