Sketch Competition #14 - Next-Generation Cobalt
Here's a sportwagon/hatch version of my sport coupe design. The idea was a compact version of the Dodge Magnum, though I keep getting this nagging feeling that I've reinvented the Gremlin.

Looks good. The top one reminda me of a Camaro, which is not a bad thing at all.

My two cents: True, you can design any kind of platform you want, and maybe there are some performance benefits to driving the rear wheels over the front. we are talking about a relatively inexpensive vehicle whose primary purpose is to get your body, and a number of friend, relations, and/or significant others from one place to another as efficiently as possible. You want to make the most efficient use of the limited interior space available, and for better or worse, right now that means front wheel drive. Cars like the Mini Cooper, and the Golf GTI show that desirable performance cars and FWD are not mutually exclusive. Making a fun, desirable car for the everyman, is certainly more of a challenge compared to something that retails fo rhte price of a house, but I think it's a worthy challenge. Just something to think about.

Sketch Competition #10 - GM Supercar
Here's the finished version of the Buick Vigilante, a 200 mph V-12 powered supercoupe that takes it's inspiration not just fromBuick's of the early postwar period, but other sports and racing cars of the time. Medelled from scratch, and rendered in Lightwave. Richard Bartrop http://bartrop.purrsia.com

Sketch Competition #10 - GM Supercar
AR2005, I love the Shark concept.. Anyway, here the first sketch of my entry. In keeping with the 'heritage' theme Buick seems to be going with, here's the Buick Vigilante, a v-12 coupe based on that theme. I'd like to model the final version in a 3D program. Is that allowed in the sketch competition? Richard Bartrop http://bartrop.purrsia.com

Ideas for sketch competitions
The Electric Muscle Car GM has decided to build a line of cars based on the HyWire platform, and they want a high performance model that will get people excited about electric cars. Electicity is clean, electricity is quiet, but can you make it sexy?

Sketch Competition #8 - GM @ NAIAS 2037
It's 2037. Oil is too precious a commodity to just burn, and V-8 engines have gone the way of reality television, but you still want something that looks good, and goes fast? You buy a Corvette, of course. Based on the HyWire platform, but with high powered electric motors mounted fore and aft, driving all four wheels to deliver supercar performance. Functional intakes help keep everything cool.

Un-Official C&G Sketch Competition...
I just had time for a couple of quick sketches. The first is a modern version of a Mercer Raceabout, a potent car for the time, with an absolute minimum of bodywork. No top, no doors, a thinly disquised racing car with just the bare minimum required to make it street legal. Since Rover has gone belly up, I'm also submitting a design for a new MG sports car.
